All the armadillos are 'sleeping' in the middle of the road. That means another year of alternating flood and drought for Texas. (Like every other damn year.)

Sounds pretty much like our weather here Shel!

Yea I saw Phil on T.V. this morning. And our wombat was wrong..... they had wild storms just south of me last night!!!

I think it's more the fault of the people deciphering what the wombat was doing!!!

Don't get too jealous, Louise--like I said, I don't get much chance to get away. The last time I left the general Pittsburgh area was the summer of 2002, when the family & I went to Niagra Falls, Canada. Arlo in Harrisburg right now is more of a temptation than a real plan for me.

Joe and PSBeaty, I'm planning on going to the Harrisburg show too <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15> Hopefully we can all meet before the show.

Cheryl, Bethesda is in my plans also... so is Wilmington... but with The Church the following week, not sure I can manage the cost of that many shows and all that driving.

Looks like we won't get to go to Wilmington, DE. Last time Arlo was there we were able to go & we stayed with Mikes cousins friend who lived near there in New Castle. Since she knew where the concert place was she took us to the show & picked us up after it was over. Well she now has some health problems like Lupus & her diabetic hubbys cancer's worse plus she moved to somewhere between Wilmington & Dover & is somewhere close to both supposedly. If we went it might be a bit much for her to have to deal with us staying with her & driving us to & from the concert place. So we probably won't be going to Wilmington. Bethesda, MD is near then so we'll be definately going to that one...

Cool! I'll remember to tell you, too, if I decide to go - but as I said I'm afraid it's far from a sure thing.

Well, Hon (Louise) if you are traveling that far I will have to take you down to Baltimore, The bastard child of east coast towns famous for giving birth to such notorious characters as Babe Ruth, Billy Holiday and Frank Zappa as well as being the final resting place of Edgar Alan Poe and Divine (Pink Flamingos fans). I am a natural born Okie in the susqhehana valley but Baltimore seems appropriate as my adopted mid atlantic city (I have grown to love Marylanders Baltimorons and susquehana valley PAer's and Blue Crabs). (Just a note: Yankees make fun of me saying Y'all when they say yous (Yuz)and wanting grits instead of those funny weird grated hash brown potatoes they serve up here, they freak out when I say sack, them high school boys in grocery stores at the end of the check out que are sackers not baggers, baggers, baggers don't make no sense. its bizarre these sectional differences. They make fun of me eating grits or black eye peas on new years (the african american folk around here could not believe I eat black eye peas on new years because in Yankee land only black folk do that (only in a politically correct world I couldn"t tell them why my family does it (go ahead and ask??)

By the way, for those unfamiliar with Baltimoreese, its the hon captital of the the world. There is a huge debate now about baseball because when the senators left DC they took Baltimore off the the O's traveling jerseys (the O's were to become DC's baseball team as well). Now, DC is getting the Expo's so the O's are no longer trying to be DC's team. the debate is whther to put baltimore back on the traveling jerseys. Well the average Joe on the Baltimore streets want the Jersys to read Hey Hon' instead of Baltimore on the traveling Jerseys

Oh Well

and, kissing builds up your mouth (Wavy Gravy)

what the world needs now is love sweet love

edited four times because I had a coupla damn good Margarita's tonight and I am man enough to admit I can't type for S@*t, so I wont even try to correct the rest

I brought all this crazy American sectionalism up because I was thinking about Iraq. I think about the fact that their sectionalism results in car bombs and meaningless death. But, the truth is it hasn't been that long since American sectionalisms were associated with car bombs and meaningless death (right in downtown OKC, the place of my birth). I learned something this past New Year about eating black eyed peas on New Years Day (it seems odd but this is probably the first Dionysian ritual I conciously performed in life and the only one I have continued to perform for my entire 40 something years). I was surprised when I found that Black people also perform this ritual (they were surprised as well). It is one of those odd rituals that is really more of a family tradition passed through generations and because there was a cultural mish mash in Oklahoma when I grew up it wasn't necessarily consistantly performed by all whites there. However, during my time in Georgia (I lived in Watkinsville and worked in Athens)it was obvious that Georgia was the origin of many of my family rituals.

You are probably wondering, why does he mention this crap here. It all comes down to getting people to live with one another. THere is still a huge rift between whites and blacks in America. We have excoricized many of the demons built into the fabric of America by importing labor in bondage. there is, however, plenty of hate still there (the OKC bombing had plenty of racial intolerance in the mix).

As you watch the presentation of the civil rights movement and what happened it keys on the injustices and the victimization of black people (both valid keys). There is no mention of the system and how it victimized white people as well. As the system destroyed the black ego it falsely reinforced the white ego. It is a 400 year old scar that still has not healed.

I grew up in that world. i was a child when blacks and whites first began sharing public facilities in OKC. I was in the High School that had the worst issues with black/white forced bussing (lowest income blacks bussed to one of the lowest income white schools = so called race rights with stoning of busses and even an unintended death).

What are the comparisons with Iraq and its tribal-religious-political sectionalism, I don't know. It was just on my mind and vented here and I wrote this to try to explain in cold hard blunder board text.

Ijust read over yonder where Cheryl wants to split the country into Bush land and Kerry land

Nobody asked, but I thought I would say

Every New Years while my Grandfather was alive we would eat Black Eyed Peas and he would tell the story how Sherman started his march to the sea in our families front yard there in Conyers Georgia and how they took or destroyed all the food except Black Eyed Peas. He would even tell how the "Damn Yankees made a point of saying how them damn peas weren't even worth feedin' to the mules." ( I admit I like them cooked with a little fat back back and some cayenne pepper sauce and for a little interesting texture add some Tabouli right before you eat them (Tabouli also works well with Pinto beans, I learned of Tabouli from my Syrian Uncle (by marriage of course) who landed the Taco Bell construction contract in OKC in the 60's and got wealthy).

I just brought it up to point out how long hatred can linger as I heard my Grandfather say things like, "I didn't know Damn and Yankee were two separate words till I was way past 22" over 100 years after that particular disagreement ended (in a failed attempt to separate the country as Cheryl suggests). So I don't believe Iraqi's or Vietnamese or Nicaraugans or El Salvadorans or whoever is going to forget Americans for some time to come without a change in the American, how do you say, perspective of the world. )oh, by the way, as one who has traveled Europe extensively and has friends in many countries, they can try to separate themselves from us byt the economic ties are way to strong so even though it is more popular for them to be in the Kerry camp they are still tied to us 100% no matter how you look at it and besides we, like idiots, inherited our stupidity from them to begin with, we should have taken that whole run away from Europe thing much more seriously long ago, but know we had an empire without labor and had to import all that crap associated with slave labor (let's face it, the masses of white folk in the north weren't too much different than the black folk n the south although they didn't have to brave the stigmatization of being "owned" and evolved in a society that allowed white immigrants even from the most maligned backgrounds, a society to grow in

I am spazzin' enough here so, in case you wonder, I right this crap here because I am trying to get into this new subteranean rodent diety thing. I have been without a diety for some time and this one sounds interesting and it mixes well with my Dionysian Black Eyed Pea ritual.

I guess if i were in Colorado and said such a thing in a poorly worded manner I would be the whipping boy of the conservative propaganda effort!

Another day in the life!
