pw's sister points out that the speed limit on the expressway in this general vicinity is 55 mph, so the princess must have been driving outside of the realm... Image

I would think that a princess could get a speeding ticket fixed.

the other car was a 70-something chevy nova... i hated that car. it was my second car. looked sharp, died at corners, or if it rained. i forget the year because the guy who sold it to me sat and talked to me and my dad about 77 novas, or something, and it ended up being a 75. i hated that car.

anyway, one time i was going to a goat show in the middle of the state, so we pulled out the back seat, put down thick plastic, and put down shavings and hay before putting a buck goat in the back. the plastic was not thick enough. i cleaned out that car for the next several months, and finally had enough of that and the dying at corners, and traded it in.

i plan to never put another buck goat inside a car. Image unless it's sparky's car.

If the Princess recalls correctly, was that not the vehicle for which you continued to receive tickets, many many moons after you unloaded it on some sucker Image ?

And the Princess NEVER speeds, she merely `keeps up with traffic'. She can't help it if everyone else exceeds the posted limits. And of course she pleads diplomatic immunity whenever the local Bobbie attempts to slap her with a citation. Haven't gotten one to stick, yet!

Although she could relay a few amusing tales of sister Star's traffic related fracas's... (I recall reading the `DO NOT DRIVE ON SHOULDER' sign, quite close up, as we sped by it on the shoulder one afternoon. Thought Star would pee her pantiloons, she was laughing so hard, as the Princess read the sign to her Image ). Carry on...

an 88 Cougar (5 liter)
what a great car big enough for me to easly get in and out of and tough enough to take my abuse.

years ago i lived on a street that all the local school kids walked down and a group of them made a point to throw all the trash cans in the middle of the street. on day i pulled op behind them waited until they got halfway down the street and floored it. there were trash cans flying everwere and the kids were scared shitless they jumped into someones front lawn and ran up their porch in an attempt to avoid me (narrow city street) when i came back around the block they were putting all the trash cans back. they started yelling at me as i was parking but imediately stopped when i got out.
there was never a trash can in that street again.

star has stories about pw, too...

star's guess is that pw will refrain from besmirching the family reputation too much.

star also recalls one time chauferring pw to the local college, and stopping the vw (not the super beetle) at burger king. pw deigned to purchase a cola, and set it on the dash.

star said, move that. it will fall.

pw said, no, it's fine.

star said, no. move it, it's going to fall.

pw said, drive on, lackey.

star said, hokay, you asked for it.

it did fall, after it scooted to the left along the dashboard, so that it would FALL ON ME!!!!!

My first car was a white 67 VW convertable. I don't know how many cars I have since, but that was the only one that was a true Love Object. I remember I would park it and walk a few feet, and turn around and look at it. Then I'd walk a little further and turn around and look at it. It was beautiful! At night, I'd look at it out my bedroom window, parked under the streetlight. When I was driving and I'd see someone else in a VW convertable we would honk and wave.
Honk honk translation: "We're so cool!"
Wave translation: "Yes, we are!"
Sweetest little car ever.

And so now, the Princess wasn't so far wrong, now was she? Image

Now, if dear brother Joe will excuse the Princess for posting this on what is no doubt the `wrong thread'...

Star stories? The Princess would never divulge any information that might be potentially embarrassing to Sister Image. Unless of course she were to personally benefit from such disclosure. Although, there was that ONE time…

Star had finagled the Princess into agreeing to attend a concert, I believe it was to be give by the illustrious Arlo Guthrie, if memory serves. The shindig was to commence at precisely 7:00, and it was located at the `Rosemont Horizon’, probably all of a 30 minute drive from the castle. (It is important to note here that both the Princess and Star had resided in the same castle for, oh say, 25 years or so. One would think, given the length of time they had to familiarize themselves with their surroundings… the Princess would like to further advise that she, given her Royal Status, is a passenger in the car of life, therefore, how could SHE possibly be expected to know how to get to the corner and back, without her entourage?? But I digress…)

What the Princess recalls most clearly from that ill-fated outing, is going on and off the on and off ramps approximately 48 times, in a failed attempt to find our way to the Rosemont (there was a beautiful sunset, and I do remember not being able to see a damn thing when we were headed into the sun). I think it was about the 45th such maneuver, at which time Star was heard to utter, `F*&K IT!’, and she turned the carriage around and we headed back to the castle. Never did see Mr. Guthrie that night.

And for those of you who might be so naïve as to think, well, if Star was driving, why wasn’t the Princess navigating, I reply, `HA HA!’. You don’t know me very well, now, do you? Let me regale you with another example of the Princess’s ineptitude:

`Once upon a time, there lived a King, a Queen, their fair daughter the Princess, and their other smart daughter, Star. The King and Queen decided a holiday was in order, so they took the Royal Family on an excursion. The Queen, having quite the sense of humor, deemed that the holiday would be spent `canoe camping’, in the middle of Lake Superior, on the God-forsaken island known as `Isle Royal’ (fitting, no?). Always being the prudent pair, the King and Queen decided to equip their daughters with the necessary items, in case the Royal Party should be separated from one another. Star was given a compass. The Princess was given a whistle.’ Need she say more? Thought not.
