I understand that al gore is taking to the campaign ciruit already, with a bag of Mr. Salty pretzels in tow, showing off how he can munch a bunch...

and in a related topic, Bush the Sr. called Bush the Jr. and told him not to eat pretzels, or puke for that matter, in the vacinity of the shoes of foreign dignitaries... the conversation was something to the effect of "read my lips... keep 'em closed"

That George W. is something alright. For most of us, it's the beer that makes us fall down, this guy does it with the pretzels!

SLA leaders arrested for their actions in the 60's, American Justice rules, Osama Bin Laden must be worried that we caught these guys in only 30 years. You can run but you can only hide for 30 years, so watch your step.

Reports also came in that the estate of Sgt. Schultz is preparing to sue for defamation of character...

***all the gnus that gives people fits***

-*-* Gnus from the Olympics*-*-

The French figure skating judge that was the center of the judging scandle has been reassigned to a different venue at the Salt Lake Games. She is now serving as a target at the biathalon rifle range.

Short track speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno contintues to insist that he is no relation of , and does not even know who Yoko Ono is.
Yoko Ono was reached for comment, but we could not understand what she was saying/singing.<img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/confused.gif" width=15 height=22>

When asked about the skeleton sled racers going down an ice track at 80 miles per hour head first without brakes, and what makes them do it, veteran sportscaster Jim McKay said " I think most of them are blunderites".

Controversy once again entered into the games when it was found out that one of the members of the Canadian 4 man Bobsled team was actually named Fred, and he was suspended from the games.

****all the gnus that gives peopel fits****

From the "what ever happened to that white trash?" dept. :

Disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding was signed to a boxing match against the Long Island Lolita Amy Fischer, when Amy's parole officer refused to grant her permission to participate, she was replaced with Paula Jones. Gee, that's gotta give Paula Jones credibilty a shot in the arm...huh? Danny Partridge and Greg Brady are on the same card....oh boy!

While channel surfing the other night, I saw a show on cable titled "Monica, in Black & White". Thinking it may be some sort of artistic show worth watching, I flipped to the cable channel that it was on, only to find out that it was a studio question and answer program shot in black & white interviewing Monica Lewinsky. I must confess, for the 45 seconds I watched the show before flipping to the history Channel, it made this journalist want to stand in line to blow the president to launch my no talent career at doing nothing and getting paid well too......NOT!!!!!!!

Sorry this is sooo, long, but, it's really worth reading... the proverbial "random act of kindness" story, or, the selective 1/2 of elective obliviosity!!!

Miracle at the checkout counter

Rohnert Park family amazed when stranger pays $306 grocery bill

March 8, 2002
By CHRIS SMITH
THE PRESS DEMOCRAT
A Rohnert Park family went to the supermarket Thursday and came out boggled by an act of kindness at checkstand eight.
David and Lynnette March suspect they will never know what moved a woman to step up and pay for their groceries -- $306 worth.
"I need to do this," the mystery woman told the couple. Both the Marches said their encounter with the benefactor gave them goosebumps.
This is what happened at about 8:45 a.m. at the Food 4 Less in Rohnert Park:
The Marches and the youngest of their three children, 4-year-old Kyle, went to the discount market for one of the big shopping trips they make about every three weeks. They wheeled a heaping basket to a checkstand.
As checker Eleanor Ott-Santiago ran the groceries through the scanner, Kyle asked his folks for two quarters for a toy-and-gumball machine.
The grocery tab came to $306.09. David March, who is 39 and delivers landscaping materials for BCJ Trucking of Fulton, swiped his ATM card. The machine rejected the debit charge, the display reading, "Not authorized."
March tried to run it as a credit card. The purchase was denied again.
March said he knew there was sufficient money in his account because he deposited his paycheck just Wednesday afternoon and his receipt showed he had $572 available.
Perhaps there was a delay with the funds being credited to his account, or perhaps a problem with the phone line or the magnetic strip on his card. Regardless, March told his wife and Ott-Santiago that he'd just have to write a check.
Just then, the woman who was in line behind him stepped close and said, "Let me."
March didn't know what she meant. He asked the woman, who had just two quarts of milk, if she wanted to go ahead of him.
She told him, "Let me pay for it."
Both March and his wife said they were stunned nearly speechless by the woman's offer. March said thank you, but that he had the money and just needed to write a check.
The woman -- blonde, 30ish, casually dressed -- gently implored him while holding her own debit card in her hand. March said she told him, "I need to do this. I need to take care it."
March gave in. As the woman paid for the groceries, an enchanted Lynnette March broke into tears. She embraced the woman, who also wept.
Checker Ott-Santiago had never seen anything like it.
"The woman didn't want to make a big deal about it," she said.
The woman identified herself to the March family only as Julie. David March said that before she left the market she told him and his wife, "You guys are doing a great job; keep it up."
She also said to both of them separately, "Trust in God. He'll take care of you."
The woman then gave 50 cents to Kyle, who dropped it into a vending machine full of novelties packaged inside plastic eggs.
The woman left the store with the milk and the Marches looked at each other, wondering what it was -- A checkstand epiphany? A personal crisis? -- that prompted her to do what she did.
Little Kyle was having trouble opening the plastic egg. March pried it apart and looked inside. The hair on his arms stood up.
The prize was a small silver cross on a chain. Hoping for a toy, Kyle gave it to his mom.
Lynnette March said she can only guess why the woman bought her family's groceries, but she's sure she's going to wear that cross.
