Hi all, been busy unwrapping, eating and drinking (inkeeper's tipple at the moment, a Blueberry Whisky, very drinkable)

I loved the nativities, I don't have one but you filled me with inspiration and next year, my favorite was the baby cheeses one. :)

I just wanted to add this today, a friend of mine died just before Christmas, she was 84 and had been ill for some time. she was an artist and had painted for many years, mainly local scenes from around where I live; many of the scenes she painted have long since gone. She has had her paintings displayed all over the world but never wanted to part with them, as they were hers, I remember her saying that when she was gone they could be thrown in the bin for all she cared, she just wasn't getting rid of them while she was living. she sold many many prints, and many from older generations around Atherton have her prints on their walls as they remember the town that way. I was very lucky that she gave me a print of one of her first paintings that she didn't sell, as it was special to her, I said I really liked it as the little man looking at the statues looked like Oscar Wild pondering the concept of beauty.

I have had a look on the internet and can only find one image to share, the chip shop in the painting was pulled down decades ago but it is a lovely image...

her service had no religious dogma but was filled with poetry as we followed her into the crematorium this was playing, I never knew she liked Johnny Cash!

I can't remember which Cash song was playing as we left but I thought this was apt...

awww, beverley….sorry for your loss. your friend makes me think a little of my grandmom,,,,(painted all sorts of days-gone-by scenes) (beautiful and quaint) when she passed, that was probably one of the worst benders i ever went on. (seen some cognac in the freezer and i was like, goddamnit!…sob…!) didn't get sick or nothin' but found myself trying to stay close to the wall.

anyhow, thanks for your thoughts and for the songs too

Wow! What a great way to start the year,

G1 enjoyed every single video. Agnes, I swear I know the hammer lady. I have her face in my mind just waiting for the name to register. Also loved the heaven song. Beverley, looked at the painting several more times, I love art. So special to have had people like her in your life. And you have a print of the painting. A treasure. Lay Down is one of my favorite songs. I think G1 said that guy from New Jersey was her neighbor at one time.

As always I am grateful for all of you.

Happy New Year.
