i guess there are any number of psychological and/or emotional reasons why anyone would want to be a part of such a thing. ?

i think also that lack of educational and economic opportunities can help pave the way to all kinds of craziness.

including resorting to what i guess would be seen as the asylum of religious cults or whatever god-backed-belonging-to thing (then there is the whole thing about whose god is better)(which inevitably comes up).
(anyhow for some sort of sense of security and belonging) ? so long as you conform to whatever it is they want, good, or bad, or how ever arbitrary..

i am sorry if i am kind of all over the place…..i just keep seeing this repeated cycle of doom
i am throwing the educational and economic part in here too cuz it is a real problem, and combining (as i have seen it) religious with political ideologies (god backed politicians) seems sometimes (often times?) aimed at perpetuating the cycle.
(like that whole demonizing of planned parenthood thing, and how some are just hell bent against raising the minimum wage, and the whole healthcare thing, you know, just as examples…tip of the iceberg)

these are not my complete thoughts on this, it is just all i seem to be able to wrangle into one place at the moment

i mean, if you want to believe in some great spirit or whatever you would want to call it, i am not really sure what that would be or mean, but fine….just don't try to tell me you can author or speak on his or her or its behalf,,,that seems to be one place where a lot of trouble starts (as history has shown)

in case there is any confusion (which there probably isn't) what i am referring to here mainly are the holy books, the bible being the one i am more familiar with, being presented pretty much worldwide as the word of god, or words inspired by god. a holy guide book. some scriptures i posted about on the stuff about stuff thread could easily fit into that dylan song, and makes me think of stuff happening today.

and on the israel/palestine thread a different scripture that is full of treachery and brutality with god on their side. but i guess i am just not supposed to notice that

I find this truly offensive.

I like baseball. I am an American. I am glad when people return from harms way. I wish they didn't have to go into harms way. I have to endure these truly offensive displays of religion and politics meshed into some ridiculous notion of Americanism. I absolutely hate these moments!

Not only that, if I don't stand and act respectful then I am suspect.

Why have same merry-go-round 'conversations' unless of course someone is for a converting someone to their way of thinking?
Used a chainsaw to murder a few big trees today in our garden so i could burn them in the fire so i guess any tree lovers out there will be marking yours truly off their christmas card list (if i was on it).
