Went to see Arlo in Pittsfield and great show as always. I just wanted to thank you Arlo for you and your music. On Nov 6, I lost my great love of 32 years and have been so devastated in the days following. But I have watched some of your You Tube videos and I can't tell you the solace they have given me. I especially listen to "My Peace" just about every day. After your show, the world didn't seem so lonely and I felt the first happiness since my loss. Thank you so much for continuing on during your difficult days and just wanted you to know what a blessing you are. And thank you for that little bit of "Alice's Restaurant" during the show, hope to see, hear you sing it all in 2015! Enjoy being with Pete at Carnegie and have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Nancy Leach

So sorry for your loss. Oh how I know what you are going thru. My darling hubby Mike who was my Arlo show partner passed from a sudden heart attack in March 2009. I still miss him every day and cannot believe he is gone. Such a shock. I know what you and Arlo are going thru as I have been there and am still there. It is so hard and yet I try to carry on as best as I can, wounded bird that I am.

Thank you both Mary and Cheryl...the days will get better. Living here in NY, I always say any day you wake up and the sun is shining and there's no snow is a good day! My gentleman was a Mike and he introduced me to "Alice's Restaurant" 28 years ago. It was neat 'cause I got to share "The Massacree Revisited" with him!

Here is a sweet song to use as your mantra. If you repeat it enough maybe you will begin to believe. When you believe, there is hope that you may begin to heal. I am sure no song will ever replace Mike, only maybe it can ease your pain. Begin every new day listening and believing you will find hope and peace.

Since my oldest son was murdered at age 16 in 1992 by a grown man with whom I trusted his life, every loss I hear about that hits "close to home" seems much harder to deal with but gradually I learned to live in my "new normal" and when I read about Jackie, my heart broke into even more pieces because I've been an Arlo fan for about 43 years when I saw Alice's Restaurant - got MY hubby who is 13 years younger than me into him and he was only a few years old when Alice's Restaurant was in theaters. My thoughts are with all of you that have had to face life altering losses because even though others share the same type of loss, in the dark hours of the night, especially near the beginning of our journey, we can feel so alone. Even though it's sad, it's also heart-warming to know Arlo and his family are so close and have each other, I too want them all to know how much their shows mean because their love shines so brightly and radiates out to touch others. I've seen Arlo many times over the years but his 2 shows in New Orleans after Katrina were not only musically amazing as usual, but because him and his family showed how much they all love and care about each other and the world. Much love and hope for peace to all who are in emotional pain. "Last Train" has always been one of my favorites...

Loss of a son or daughter, especially that way, is very tough, ebbette. Your heartfelt post was very poignant. Yes, "Last Train" is a good one, as are just about all the tracks on "In Times Like These" with the University of Kentucky Symphony. My favorite Arlo CD.
