Just wondering why arlo refuses to do even the 2 minute version of Alice's restaurant during his shows? No one expected him to do the the full version but expected even a few bars of it. I heard many people that were upset when it wasn't played. I also saw a bunch of people upset that he wasn't doing autographs and one very pushy broad that wouldn't take no for an answer,this all could of been aliveated if the road manager had said arlo was very worried about the health of his wife and wanted to devote time to her.
A good idea might of been to pass out pre signed photos autographed before hand so as not to take time away from his dear wife...

He usually does Alice's at anniversaries of the song. I've heard it live a few times. Hang in there and maybe someday he will do it at a show you are at. I figured Arlo wouldn't be meeting folks with Jackie being so ill. Hoping she will get better soon. He is a really nice person and says hi to folks alots of times. Right now I suspect he has alot going on right now. Vibes to Arlo and Jackie and the concert goers.

He was extremely gracious to me, but I was there three hours before the show started. I think his road crew is also very protective of him right now,I know if I had a loving wife that was ill I would be on the verge of tears constantly.it was a great show and there were no expectations of hearing the full song, but I would of liked to of heard the short version of the song only...to me that was his most famous song and what everyone relates to when they hear the name arlo Guthrie.

I was thinking he really looks great after all these years! And his voice is still all there.it was a great show...

My guess would be Arlo might feel as you put it a "2 min version" of the song would'nt do it justice and since it is a 23 min song would stop people from hearing many other great songs.

I guess so,he was mostly doing his dads music anyway..but it would of been fun!

We are lucky Arlo came to VT at all since Jackie was so sick. Who cares what he did or didn't sing. I thought the show was amazing! I always feel so good after listening to Arlo.

I also was amazed that he came to vt....I did notice that he spent every free moment he had on the phone to her and the kids.

i go to hear Arlo perform. i never have expectations over what he might play. he can play whatever he wants to play. it is fine by me.
i have never been disappointed. he is quality through and through.
