"Top of the World"

Grammy-grabbing polka king Jimmy Sturr again attempts to
explain America's most misunderstood music - polka -with a
weirdly diverse oompah album that features bluegrass diva
Rhonda Vincent as guest vocalist.

The album makes its best points early on when Sturr
arranges "Top of the World" - the old Carpenters tune - for
accordion and brass.

Here the bright melody is buoyed with even peppier
instrumentation. Sturr works that same magic on Steve
Goodman's "City Of New Orleans," featuring Arlo Guthrie,
who helped make it a classic.

The Sturr/Guthrie combination is less successful on Woody
Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land," but even here - though
the folk/polka blend is lumpy - the tune is treated with care.
