This just in .... The head stomping guy was arrested and charged with assault. He is (or rather, was) the Bourbon County, Kentucky coordinator for Rand Paul.

I heard that Rand Paul issued a statement that generally indicates that he does not favor violence among his supporters. I am still waiting to hear him issue a full apology to the woman who was assaulted by his supporters (and I'm sure Ms. Valle is, too).

Ms. Valle, the woman who was attacked, was released from the hospital and is recovering from injuries, including a concussion. Tim Proffitt, the "alleged" attacker wants her to apologize to him! WTF!

yeah, i have been trying to follow this a bit, and a few articles lead me to believe that they knew who she was...(were somewhat familiar with her?) my point being the level of threat as the article here points out was perhaps not all profitt was cracking it up to be?

Looking at this thread and some others we've had lately, I think some of us would very much enjoy getting the DVD of the movie "Agora" and spending an evening with close friends who enjoy deeply researched, beautifully filmed and very timely movies made the old fashioned way: lovingly, fiercely with quality.

It is a heartbreaker, but when you look at the DVD features and begin to understand what the director, crew and actors were trying to achieve, it's obviously worth it and they did achieve their aims.

It is hands down the best movie in recent years and distributed in America almost not at all because American distributors fear it. And that says much, IMO. Some claim it to be a hit piece on Christianity. I think it a tragic revelation of what happens when the politics of power use religion as a weapon and the collateral damage is beauty and truth.

Great flick. The lack of distribution in the USA was sort of a life imitates art moment.

True, Capt'n. OTOH, the DVD is better than the movie in a theatre because of the features (although I'd love to see it on the big screen given the cinematography). And the DVD is right there on Amazon.com for the price of two tickets to the matinee and has more to see and grok.

It's worth having folks over to see and discuss. Start a movement.
