Our daughter Laura and Mike Kelmelis were married on Saturday! The day was absolutely perfect! Not a cloud in the sky, and a high of 80 degrees.
Laura wore a dress made from my mother's 1944 wedding dress. We used the skirt and train, and Laura had a new bodice made, with electric blue accents and...sleeves. (What's the deal with every dress available being sleeveless/strapless? Sleeveless does not look good on everyone!!) The result was lovely, and she was a gorgeous bride!
The reception was a lot of fun! Laura is involved in an improv group and musical theater, so there was an Improv performance, a traditional Vietnamese and traditional Lithuanian dance (long stories!), and a flashmob dance, which was a lot of fun to watch. Nice to know Laura has put all those dance lessons she got as a kid to good use! Laura also sang to her new husband...a very touching, beautiful song written personally for them by folksinger Erik Balkey, titled, "Why Didn't You Tell Me That I Was In Love With You?"
After the dinner and entertainment, there was much dancing and hilarity, and everyone had a great time. The beer and wine never ran out, the food was fabulous, and the crowd devoured a huge table full of yummy desserts and cupcakes. We still have some cupcakes left. Cupcake, anyone? We're tired but happy, and both families are thrilled for Laura and Mike.
The bridesmaid dresses were interesting...Laura found them on Etsy.com. They were reversable...so for the wedding, they were electric blue, and for the reception they flipped them to red, purple, yellow, blue, lime green and pink dresses. They also came in a few styles, so they were all a little different.
I'm sleeping in tomorrow..!!

Some hippie chick florist...I think she's been seen doing flowers in front of some church in the Berkshires, too!

A sort of interesting fun fact...I not only did Laura's wedding flowers, in the past I also did the wedding flowers for both matrons-of-honor and one of the bridesmaids.
The matrons-of-honor I claim as my other two daughters...the other parents claim Laura as theirs. We're all fine with that...you can never have too much family who love you and support you.
