Unfortunately, most of the threads that include discussions of or instances of invoking selective obliviosity ran their 15 pages or got too controversial, and are locked, so I can't pull them up by posting in them. But here's one.

If you use the "Search" in white on the lower-right corner of the frame around that silly thing at the top of the page, and search for the entire term (selective obliviosity), you should find a couple pages of threads including it. I recommend going to the oldest and working toward the most recent. Your search term (selective obliviosity) will be highlighted with yellow, so it's easy to do a quick scan of the thread to find instances of it.

Ok. I'm just the videographer (and a twisted one at that), so my best example of selective obliviosity is Queen Elizabeth at a dinner party when Ronald Reagan made a slightly off color remark. Her ability to never change expression was profound.

Then there was the woman at the GC in the hallway who said she would let me pass by taking a very deep inhalation and only making the passage narrower thus. Could I have been more selectively obliviated, I would have been less incorrectly elated.

Anyway, thanks for the peek in the Wayback Machine, Mr. Peabody. I collected many ideas for the next episode of Arlo and The People.

Who was Todd?

He was a well loved blunderite who sadly passed on a few yrs ago. I met him a few times & he seemed nice. He wrote some interesting stuff on here. I remember him getting kicked out at a Keswick show after the show & no one could find him after that...

Todd was todd and that's all there is to it. He said what he said as he felt he needed to say it. The only crash test dummy I ever knew.
We loved him.

OTOH, you've cohered a long time as forum list communities go and you don't forget people. As something of a vet in the internet list domain, it's rare, and like kudzu, you spread out to the other venues as fast as they appear, eg, Facebook, and that means healthy and potent. Please take it as a compliment. This is something new for our culture.

We were never sure how this would work out but so far the theory I had has been right. It is an "as the twig is bent, so grows the tree" system. Whoever starts the ball rolling determines its overall path by their initial style and cause; so, "sensitivity to initial conditions" does apply. Human list behavior is fractal. Wonderful. We make a difference intensionally and that means, self-organized criticality is the dominant control.

Forgive me if that seems overly serious. It's a question to which I've waited for an empirical answer for roughly two decades.

Do you remember seeing some of us go just to the left of the front stairs at the church and just stare down at the ground and/or reach down and brush leaves away? That was Todd's memorial plaque we were greeting and keeping clear.

Todd is there...a good portion of his ashes were scattered around the church, and we still have philisophical conversations while I'm doing flowers. If you look real hard in the right light, you'll see him sitting on the steps, making typical outrageous "Todd" comments, and reminding us that we're all still a part of the same universe, wherever we are.

You're good eggs. I hope you never lose each other.

Sue, did you get a copy of the live version of "This Little Light of Mine"? If I can get an mp3 of that, I can use it for the next video. My camera lost battery power too soon and I was in the little room out front when they sang that.

Is the older Blunderite tale that was going to be archived actually archived somewhere? Don't remember the actual title anymore - it was many years ago, but it was in the Story Board sub forum. I was under the impression it was perhaps the first Story Board thing that happened. There was some funny stuff there that tickled me and made me smile. I'd kinda like to go back a re-read the thing every now and then. I remember Larry added some hilarious stuff at a couple of points.

RIP Todd, Bumper, and my darling Mike. That's neat they have a memorial plaque for Todd. Never knew that...
