A number of years ago I watched a movie, which quickly became one of my all time favorites, called Road Side Prophets. It's an odd film about a biker bringing the ashes of his fallen friend across Nevada to scatter at a 'Mom and Pop' casino he remembered from his youth.

Along the way our biker friend meets a number of people who tell him stories or offer him their outlook on life including Dr. Timothy Leerey, David Carradine and Arlo Guthrie.

Arlos scene lasted about 35 seconds. In it, he began telling the story of a fishing trip he had taken where his target was a prehistoric fish. Not that the type of fish is prehistoric, but each fish itself. And when these fish get that old, they get big. And when they get big, they get feet. And when they get feet, they get dangerous.

JUST as he was getting to this point, and I was getting ready for a hysterical tale of Arlonean proportions, he was interrupted by someone else and his scene was cut short.

For years it has plagued my brain whether this was a tale that he had completed or if it was just something made up for the film to give us just a little tease of his story telling ability. I was certain I would never know for sure.

But then yesterday I downloaded his live show at Commonwealth Park in Culpeper, VA circa 1986 here on Arlo.net and heard, to my delight, a song called Ruben Clamzo. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard him speak of the prehistoric clams and how they get big when they get old and they get feet when they get big.

I'm truly begining to love this site. I think I'll stick around for a while.
