I happen to know that ablations are often done to treat symptoms of hypertrophiccardiomyopathy, since it runs in my family and my little sister founded and continues to run a support and information group.

My mom suffers from atrial fibrillation. She's already had several cardioversions where they shock your heart. So this is the next step.
She's actually been very lucky so far, both her dad and grand-dad suddenly passed away from heart problems, when they were relatively young. She has sailed past them, and is now 81.

Best wishes to your mom. I have 2 stents in my right coronary artery, both from heart attacks. Your mom has certainly beat the odds... congratulations on helping keep her healthy.
