As for me, I will never feel indifferent about innocent people dying.

I said this in another thread and it was shrugged off...

Do people really think they can solve their differences with rockets and air strikes? (update: followed by invasion and occupation?)

Each side telling their friends and loved ones as they lay dying, victims of todays newest retaliation (update: and escalation), "Don't worry, we will kill them all."

Meanwhile, some skidmark is getting rich selling anything they can (update: to both sides) to help kill more.

Israeli officials know they can count on the Bush administration's support, but are less sure about Obama.

The timing of the cease-fire ending and 3 weeks of w left before the new sheriff comes to town, may have come into play.

Look for things to get much worse over the next few weeks.

Death In Gaza!

Funny, to me, it is just an observation on the condition of man in the year 2009 AD!

I think the very first post I posted on the Group W Bench called for radio stations and television sets all over the world to play once a day in harmony “Children of Abraham, What’s your story, killing’ each other for a piece of land” while visions of Death in Gaza (or New York, or Baghdad, or Africa or wherever death is happening for geopolitical/religious tradition/ blood feud/ general stupidity reasons anywhere on the planet! But, people who obviously wield more power than I, continue to pursue that tried and true approach of money, guns and lawyers! Why hell, the Mayor of NYC and our President have both said one side is justified in its actions in the turmoil! I personally never saw the presentations in the dimly lit room where the panel of the powerful debated whose justification for Death in Gaza was more sound, the HAMAS or the ISRAELI. I am sure both justifications were well reasoned with impeccable logic, however, I feel quite certain, that the VOICE OF REASON, although acknowledged as having some merit, was rejected as the FOOL’S GAMBIT!

Hey guys,

I would like to look at this from a different perspective just for a moment.
I am like most of you, I’m appalled at the death and destruction, especially with kids.
It is absolutely, definitely heart breaking at times.

However, the conflicts in the mid east have been going on a long time.
One can go back as far as the first Egyptian dynasty of Narmer in 3100BC.
So if you take 3100 BC add it to 2009 AD that give s total of 5109 years of strife.
The conflict centers around ideologies and religion.
I have no doubt will continue to do so for the next thousand years.
There is simply too much hate and animosity to disappear in one generation.

The only reason we hear so much or are involved is because of our need for excess energy, namely oil.
I am quite sure, if it were no for this, most of the events there would go virtually unnoticed here, as they do with other places.

I still feel so sorry for the kids though that will eventually have these ‘stupid’ ideas drilled into their heads over time and pick up where the ‘Death in Gaza’ leaves off to continue it all over again, and the dreadful cost in young lives here.

Since so many here are interested in music, I'll para-phrase from a 1967 song, "It's a strange, strange world we live in, Master Jack".
