This for my friend Pati who has been extremely kind to me & who relentlessly cheered me on thru the last two years. [even when I not so GENTLY told her to get away from me (in the morning)].

I was trying to cheer her up the other day, (& that does not come naturally to a subwitch) it "came around" to telling her she'd make a good Blunderite. (OK - Is that a compliment or a threat? - I know) but I told her I would ask y'all to chime in & as best as possible-describe what a Blunderite is...

SO, You know you're a Blunderite when....

you know that you're a Blunderite when ...

Your friends (both in New Jersey, less than 6 miles apart) call you (in Texas) to get them to the same place at the same time. And you do it.

Whenever Arlo does any shows in or near your state you go. You plan your annual 2 weeks trip to visit your hubbys sisters family in Ohio around any shows he might do there. You force your parents to hear Alices on the radio while traveling to your cousins for Thanksgiving dinner And Blunderites are good people.... :)

You know you're a Blunderite when:

your family can't agree on a date for a weeklong camping trip to Cape May NJ, so you check on ArloNet to see when he'll be in Ocean City. Miraculously, everyone is available that week and agrees to go camping that week. You even manage to convince your oldest son and his best friend to go to the show with you!

1.your friends call you whenever they hear about anything Guthrie going on... you thank 'em... and don't tell them you already know...

2. People ask you if Stephanie ( or Sam or Priscilla) Guthrie is related to Arlo... huh???????....

3. You call the Thoreau Society to buy concert tickets, wind up in a conversation... and find out they didn't know Arlo wanted to be a forest ranger...or that he plays Carnegie Hall every year....

... you move to Freakin' Colarada, and your blunderbuddies from New Jersey, Connecticut and Texas meet up with you to have a snowball fight on the Durango-Silverton Railroad - in MAY - just because Arlo was in the neighborhood!

......on Thanksgiving you keep spinning radio dials to hear a song you have heard countless times before, all the while having various recordings of the same song that you could play at any time.

Oh, I thought of another one (hehe)

You know you're a Blunderite when:

your 24 year old son tells you it "doesn't matter" when you ask for his girlfriend's last name... only to be asked months later by your sister, "so, how about Becky's last name?" When you confront your son about not telling you before, he says he knew you'd "make a big deal of it... and ask a lot of questions."

I think you have the words "Blunderite" and "mother" confused.

When you tell your cousin about seeing Arlo recently & he says that every time I see you you are always going to see Arlo. :) (Happened last nite lol)

When on Thanksgiving when you & the hubby ride with your folks to your cousins daughters for dinner, you have your folks turn on the radio to hear a certain song that is a Thanskgiving tradition not only for you but cuz FM 96.5 the classic rock stations plays it every yr at 12 noon.

When you're dragged relatives like your parents, late sister-in-law & some nieces & nephews to Arlo shows.

You didn't have cable at the time cuz it or small satellite dish wasn't in your area yet but you just had to see Arlo on some tv show so you went to K-mart to see it on a tv there cuz they had cable there.

Arlo was on a show on cable tv the nite you were supposed to go with hubby to his cousins & not having cable channels yet (as above) you asked if you could watch it on their other tv. And you did.
Made your sister-in-law and a niece & nephew as well as your hubby watch Byrds of Paradise because of a certain character named Alan Moon.

You found out Arlo was doing a show in Clifftop,WV before but even tho you had never heard of it before, just knowing it was in the next state you just had to go. And had a great time!

A dog you had some yrs ago had puppies, and you named them Arlo, Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan and Joan Baez for the female (cuz that name just seemed to fit in with the Arlo/ Dylan stuff). (Gave them away to my folks, cousin & some other folks. Arlo got renamed Bozo, Pete Seeger became Lobo & who knows what the others became)...

You soooooooo know you're a Blunderite when....

Arlo won't leave you alone.
He pops up here, He pops up there..
Arlo is almost everywhere.

Some things and some people are always 6 or 7 degrees from Arlo.

I don't look for it, it finds me. I was merely intrigued by it at first, but the pulling got stronger, so I gave in and followed. That was only two Thanksgivings ago. I'm a baby blunderite, but I'm in for the long haul.

It lead me here...to the most wonderful, blunderful, crazy yet level-headed folks I have ever had the pleasure to post to. I have learned things here that you just can't get from book learnin' 8)

That's how I know I'm a Blunderite.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
