I don't know Leo it's been a week and no one has guessed it,...I figure you stumped us.

Neil Young ?

Here's one,...maybe too simple:

"New one's coming as the old one's go, everything's moving here but much too slowly
A little bit quicker and we might have time, to say "how do you do" before were left behind"

Oh Rodney Crowell. Just a video I burnt out on for about a month a week back or so. Don't Get Me Started. (this new board took a while to get use too, I only reply to emails of comments.)

I don't know Kevin.
(Hell we are almost neighbors, me being from Littleton and you in Southland.)

Here is one: "They say that Rock and Roll will soon fade away. But no matter what they say Rock and Roll is here to stay."

OK...Leo...you posted on 8/22,...I replied on 8/29 then the thing has been inactive. I guess lyric guessing is too dull for blunderland ? Southland ? I'll hang my conferderate flag upside down.
So you stumped the group "w" bench on #1. #2 is done by the band.

Mine was Robert Hunter "Cosmic Charlie".

"The telephone is ringin, and they told me it was chairman Mao, the telephone is ringing and they told me it was chairman Mao. I don't care who it is, I just don't want to talk to 'em now"

That was the "Apolitical Blues" by Little Feat. I don't know how far this is going, so far it's only us.

"Please let me do what I wanna, just lay around the house and smoke,............."

I don't know about that; I like reading this forum (when it's active). I just don't know the answers (except Little Feat, but I was too late for that), except via googling which is cheating, i think, sort of. So I could name the source of your most recent quote, but only because I googled it...and someone else who actually knows it should have a chance. If nobody answers, maybe something a little less obscure?

Does it have to be only one at a time? How about this one:

"Take a whiff on me, that ain't no rose!
Roll up yer window and hold yer nose
You don't have to look and you don't have to see
'Cause you can feel it in your olfactory"

OR

this one:

"Forty days at sea, forty days and forty nights
We took many a whale my boys
But not one white whale in sight"

Yes! Good job on Steve Goodman's "Moby Book". I saw him open for Joan Baez in (about) 1975 and that's been one of my favorite SG songs ever since then.; he was great. It's funny; I actually thought that would be the one that would stump people.

The other one is less obscure as a song, although perhaps that particular verse is not quoted often. It is from the first "hit" song by a singer/songwriter who appeared on "MASH" for a time and the first line of the song is "Crossin' the highway late last night, he shoulda looked left and he shoulda looked right..."
