I agree, Cheryl; it is a shame. It's a national shame that the commander in chief of the U.S. military is planning to veto the new G.I. bill that would help those veterans. Let's see ... what is his name?

the House passed a bill Thursday refusing to fund the Iraq war
and passing a new GI Bill that would give more benefits to vets...
finally... but good for them...

the Senate may not pass it...
Bush has promised to veto it...
and the Republicans who want more spending in Iraq also vote against compensating the GIs who fight that war...

as a naive Easterner it's next to impossible for me to believe there's an American left who truly believes this war is about democracy or saving the country... but there are...

That is both the sad part and the paradox.It never was about either at the start, but on some level, it is now.

Not only was it about other stuff at the start, it was and is a MAJOR strategic blunder.
