So what do you think. Is this administrations public lack of interest in the rise of high gas prices payback for the resistance from congress to allow drilling in Alaska's natural wildlife preserve? Many people would say "what can he do"? My only reply would be.."How about being a leader and restore confidence here at home. Our country is drowning and he aint doing anything about it!". So how many days are left for this guy anyway? The only thing that this guy is interested is the war in Iraq...

I figure the gas prices are payback for that (the vote on Alaska) plus, they figure to get all they can in those remaining 270 days, 'cause they can't count on being able to rape and pillage us and the world after that.

Well all I know is that the line at the soup kitchen in my town is growing every day and I am starting to see people I know in the line. Some of them are folks that are my neighbors. I just hope that this isn't history repeating itself. After all people were feeling pretty comfortable before the great depression too.

the bottom line, in my opinion, is *always* getting the richest richer and subjugating as many of the lower income and now, as many are seeing the middle income folks as possible... to have more control, power and money...

power is about manipulating the economy... and if you can make money from gas, why not??... is there a billion dollar yacht that will travel one less mile this summer because of gas prices??....
(only those philanthropic very rich.. the unusual such as Bill Gates... who voluntarily might help to conserve)...

on DemocracyNow yesterday morning, a story on food prices and panics around the world was very interesting... apparently the US government subsidizes rice farmers in this country to an enormous extent.... in Haiti, for example, subsidized rice from the US over the years became so much cheaper for Haitians to buy that it reduced enormously the number of Haitian rice farmers who couldn't compete with the (highly subsidized) prices of American imports....

then food prices skyrocketed... and Haitians, many of whom live on $1.00 a day, can no longer afford American rice...

and almost no one is growing rice in Haiti...

and they are starving...

and people say, why aren't they growing their own rice??...

who knows American agri-industry and politics stamped it out...

Payback? I'm not seeing that.

I think this admin could not be happier that big oil has made record profits. Even though w divested, I think the family remains in the oil business.

Why did this admin not make public their energy policy, refusing - even after being sued, to reveal even who was in attendance at those early energy policy meetings? This was their plan all along. Inflame the M/E, weaken the dollar, drive up prices to drive up profits.

So pay back for Anwar? Bush supporters could argue that if we had approved drilling there, we would now have more domestic production and less demand and therefore be paying less now.

Of course that would be wrong. Big oil would just make even bigger profit.

Maybe yours is...our family does not qualify. We will get our relief when pres mc same passes that gas tax holiday next year. Not.

Ha, in Cali we can ride our bikes most of the year. And now, thanks to global warming...90+ yesterday, we can ride even more. Also, I suggest doing all the above bare foot due to the high price of shoe leather.

You are lucky to reside in a warm climate where you can walk, ride a bike etc.

Many of us must deal with the four season's--the winter's can be a real
killer, cold temp's- heating a home, driving a car etc.

Make sure when you walk- always wear some sort of foot wear- you
don't want to cut your foot open while walking then have a high medical bill----if insurance does not cover the whole bill- or worse off if you
are without health insurance

We don't have a rebate check coming, either.

That little "gas tax holiday" will add a few BILLION to the deficit...it is a poor decision and none of the future ramifications were investigated.

I guess they'll solve this one by printing up more $$.
