Hello Lorie.
Hope you're feeling better.
Some friends of mine and people I know, had depression but they're better now, with medications and especially with the help of a therapist, friends or family when it's possible… . It's important to believe in oneself.
Thoughts to you!

Thanks to everyone else for your thoughts and concerns. I will look into some more literature on bipolar disorder on the web and by looking at books about ones who are suffering from this illness.
As I mentioned earlier on this thread that I had this symptom since I was in grammar school and back then there was no diagnosis on high and low mood swings and emotional problems. My whole world turned upside down when I was eight years old. It all happened when I started getting picked on in school because I was different than everyone else as being shy, quiet, and getting upset easily by crying and getting angry and tempermental, for two years I did not laugh or smile I got very depressed and did not care about anything I felt I was trapped in a cube. A few months later I was on Benadryl for crying episodes and it did not help me. My parents never bothered to take me to any counseling or getting me medical attention. I felt neglected and abused. Each time I cried or got depressed when I was getting older I got punished by my folks, they labeled me a "cry baby" and so did everyone else I knew. Even till this day it still hurts me mentally and emotionally. When I was in school I got labeled a troublemaker because of my crying episodes, was constantly yelled at by my teacher and got sent to the principal each time I got emotionally upset. I felt that was abuse as well. For many years as I was growing up I wanted to die with thoughts of suicide floating around in my head due to the hatred and abuse I got everyday during my difficult and depressed childhood. Just a few years later the emotions and rage hit me hard like a ton of bricks fell on me, my condition got more worse this past Fall when I took a spiral downward turn and wanted to end it all!
I was reading some factual lit on the web on what causes bipolar disorder, it stated that its a chemical inbalance in the brain and is hereditary. For example on my father's side of the family there was great great grandparents and great aunts and uncle that were very tempermental and acted out with rage and got abused and emotional and took their anger and depression out on their children and passed it on to the next family generation feeling like dominos falling down one after another one.

Whereas I am still hanging in there and taking each day step by step and holding my head as high as I can :)

Peace and Love,
Lorie

Arnie: the demon in my nightmares, has always been invisable. Some sinister, dark, evil being, that is out to take me away...

Nightmares can be scary. I guess that's why they call em nightmares.

nah, nothing like Larry.

Take it easy... but take it!

Howdy Agnes!.....I just want to touch base with everyone on my treatment. The medication is helping me keep my mood very stabilized and I don't feel a great amount of mental stress or emotion as I did a few months back. I also don't feel silly or don't find my self humorous since the meds kicked in. Lamictal is the medication I have been taking since November. Lamictal is a new prescription drug for patients who are suffering from manic depression and epilepsy. Lamictal is a gentle drug that does not cause major side effects or make you feel more depressed as compared to other medicines such as Abilify, Zoloft, Paxil, etc.
I am due back at the doctor's in a few weeks for a check up and with a visit to my therapist. I will let you all know how my visits went.

Peace,
Lorie
