Actually, Neanderthals had a larger brain capacity than modern man and there is evidence that they performed funereal rites for deceased family/tribal members, indicating that they had high moral/social values, none of which Dubya seems to possess. Please, don't insult the Neanderthals!

There was more than burial--there are several examples of Neanderthals with disabilities living to old (for them) age. One has a withered arm that would have left the bearer severely incapacitated since birth, and yet he survived through adulthood into his 40s. Another had spina bifida, and there are many more. Someone must have taken care of them and shown true compassion. There is even some possible evidence of crude surgery--medical care, as it were.

That alone means the answer just can't be zero--so I'm going to guess "two species"--that would place him as homo antecessor.
