Does anybody else crochet besides me? I'm beginning to think that aside from a few blue haired old ladies, that I'm the only one.

I used to... counted-cross-stitch also... until my hands hurt too much to do crafts anymore.

That makes me feel better. My husband teases me all the time that I'm an 80 year old in a 24 year old body.

I used to quite a lot, but haven't in a while. Jewelery making is more fun for me

Another crocheter here. My Grandma & an Aunt taught me in the mide 60's to early 70's. Grandma tried to teach me how to knit but it was too confusing to me. I wish I knew how to knit tho. I am working on some crocheting projects tho like crocheting onto some blankets which I will give to some baby neices & nephews & crocheting a pillow cover & I want to crochet some doily type things to go on the arms of the couch & chairs in the living room.

I do some jewelry making mainly taking bracelets that are too small to fix me & adding extra bead to them restringing them to get them to fit. I did make me a coupla bracelets tho...

I've done a lot of knitting...I've also spent a lot of time actually spinning the yarn. In a previous life, I was heavily involved in fiber arts...weaving, spinning and dyeing. That's one of the reasons I never let my kids drink Kool-Ade...after I saw what it would do to wool and silk when used as a dye, I decided it didn't belong in my kids.
I still have two spinning wheels and two looms and assorted other equipment for carding/blending fibers hanging around the house, with the wool combs and the swing-cradle wool picker being the most deadly/dangerous. I sold the 45" 8 harness loom seven or eight years ago and bought my first personal computer with the cash.

little did sue realize that a 45" 8 harness loom can browse the internet faster than any PeeCee except a Mac, which is only slower than a 3 tined Apple Corer/Peeler (my favorite for email!)

That's why some bloggers are so adept at spinnin' yarns...

On a fat peoples message board system on the forum on Plus Sized Fashion which I hang out on sometimes, they are discussimg crocheting & knitting on there. Looks like there's plenty of folks out there crocheting & knitting...

I think there are more knit-wits than there are crochet-wits...........nationwide I mean.

I know some of you are thinking of Dubya reading that. LOL...

I crocheted and embroidered when I was younger but not a lot. Now, I crochet with the strings of the banjo I got one year ago.

Yeah, I don't spend time with the fiber arts any more...music has taken up all that time. I can play fiddle, autoharp or guitar all day long and never have to vacuum up the notes I played!
The house is a whole lot less fuzzy these days...we used to have a lot of multicolored wooly/silky/angora fluff dust bunnies. I still have a stash of wool and silk and commercial yarn in the basement, just in case I get the urge to spin up a skein or two or weave up a shawl or baby blanket.
I do have nice handwoven curtains in my basement...I made them when we lived in Torrance CA for the kitchen there...when we moved I didn't let them convey with the house, and the only place they fit here were the windows in the walk-out area of the basement. They still make me happy...it was a huge project. I think I wove 15 yards of 10-2 cotton in a white, ecru and two threads of navy in a windowpane plaid, and after washing and assembling, the plaids all matched. With handwoven fabrics, that's really hard to do.

I like to crochet and I like it. (So it can't be just for old people!!) I know how to knit, but I find it boring. But I'm best at sewing...can make stuff from scratch with no patterns. Ive made everything from womans suits to a bridal gown to dog coats. Lots & Lots of costumes.

But of course my passion is scrapbooking - (Esp if someone else vacuums up the "Schnibbles" right Larry?)

Wish I could sew but I'm no good at it. I didn't do so well in home ec in jr high. Last summer I attempted to sew a coupla skirts & a spaghetti strap dress. They were made of the fabric where it had a skirt waistband & you buy up the amount of material you need for the skirt & just sew up the side. Same deal for the dress except the gathered stuff was at the top. My mom helped me with them so it was a joint effort. Probably more mom than me lol...
