The German & French channel Arte broadcasts during this summer a good program ( documentary, music, movies ) about "the summer of love" in the 60s /70s: Hair, Tommy,Woodstock…. and …..Alice’s Restaurant.
I watched it again, always with the same great pleasure
For those who receive Arte in Europe ( sat Astra, Hot bird), the film will be repeated on july 10 , the day of Arlo's birthday! ( and on july 16 )

yeah, the serie on arte ..it´s great and important!It´s an authentic production which gives my generation an understanding of these wonderful times!
Great films and documentations and alice´s restaurant is definately the highlight
I wish I could have lived in those times!

When I was in Germany in late May-early June and had just come from the airport and checked into my room I turned on the radio while I was unpacking. A folk music program was just starting with a discussion of Woodstock 1969 and almost immediately moved to a recent interview with Arlo.
That was the only time during my stay that I had the radio on and that was just for 30 minutes. What are the odds of that happening? Made me feel right at home.

I saw it on Arte on Wednesday and I also watch it with pleasure every time I see it which could acutally be anyday since I have the DVD. I like to switch from the original English language to German when I can't understand something and then back to hear the original voices. Unfortunately I missed all the other programs you mentioned. Thanks for posting the info.

The odds are very very slim cause I can't remember when the last time was I heard folk music on the radio over here and an interview with Arlo- Can you remeber the name of the channel. Just asking in case you would know.

The radio show was on at 3 PM on Sunday. Sorry I don't remember the channel. That was the other strange thing. The show came on as soon as I turned the radio on so I didn't have to adjust the channels to find the program. By recent interview I mean some pre-recorded stuff from the last few years that Arlo has done regarding the Woodstock event that they wove into the program along with the music and their own discussion.

I love WFUV. What a trip to hear about the traffic in the Holland Tunnel out here on the West Coast every day! And the Joan Baez concert at Town Hall that I heard on the archive is why I started to follow Arlo's tours in 2003. Christmastime in Washington with the lines, "Come back Woody Guthrie, Come back to us now,..." headed me down the path to Arlo.

Arlo was also on the AP "This Day in History" video today(http://video.ap.org/v/Legacy.aspx?f=CAC ... 7-10-12-34). As noted there Arlo and Tom Hanks have the same birthday.

I think Mr Bill said Arlo's bd was ilisted in the paper. Pretty cool. I think he told Mike about it. Arlo also shared a birthday with the late Freddie Gwynne who also played Herman Munster on the Munsters show back in the 60's...

started the day hearing a tape with a good piece of Alice's on it on the tv...

seems a Pacifica (read indy media) radio station had their window shot through while playing above song... not kidding...in 1970... yesterday they took another shot...during a zydeco show....for the transcript see...

caught a documentary called "Music Rising" on the Sundance Channel about musicians who worked to help in New Orleans.... really nice clip of Arlo and Willie et al singing City of New Orleans...
