for those of you who thought I was kidding
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilya_Prigogine

It is a great theory (its the best theory I know only because I can't understand why light travels the same speed and hits the front and back of the railroad car at the same time when you are in the car but it appears to hit the front of the car quicker when you are outside the car looking in with the difference being the front of the car is moving toward the light and the rear of the car is moving away from the light, Einstein had some seriously good illegal substance!). Somehow its comforting to know that I have achieved my purpose as a living being when I have a few pints on a sunny day and take a whiz (have you ever thought of the energy balance related to consuming two pints of ale and taking a whiz? The sun hits the grain and in a sudden cosmic event knocks order into some electrons which is stored as sugar. Some guy comes along with a big oil burning tractor and harvests the wheat (wow some entropy generated there but its all the wheel within the wheel thing). The wheat Is malted and thrown in some water and stored in a cool place. THe sugar is turned to alcohol (energy released but with the cost of a little order in the yeaty beasty cells and hopefully no bacteria but there is more disorder created by the dilute but significant accumulation of ethanol in the container and the heat generated by the fermentation (there has to be thats the cosmic bit). THen its packaged and shipped to me (this whole industrial age mass scale is why man is the best dissipative structure ever because that really creates entropy. I mean you can't forget the entropy resulting from turning sand to glass to make the bottles to quench the thirst of the multitude, right! I go to the store, pick it up and take it home to stick it in my ice box to get it cool (all this activities are balancing some kind of order with disorder and disorder always wins in the end). Sittin in the sun I feel compelled to consume a couple of pints on a nice afternoon (like the ones lately). Right away, I release all that pent up carbon dioxide with a loud impressive belch (entropy right there). The alcohol makes me get up and do a silly dance or two (little more disorder and chaos) and then its finally time to take a whiz the grand great finaly of dissipation as a pint of hot concentrated liquid leaves my bladder and expands into the great dilution factor of the universe (I hear Beethovens Ninth buzzing in my head) and at this time of contemplation I realize the grand picture, LIFE EVOLVED ON THIS PLANET BECAUSE IT IS AN EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE WAY TO CONVERT ORDER (IE CONCENTRATED ENERGY FROM EINSTEIN ABOVE) LIKE THE SUN INTO DISPORDER (LIKE THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA AND THE PISS IN THE BOWL AWAITING THE CEREMONIAL FLUSH OR THE PISS SEEPING INTO THE GROUND BEHIND THE SHED AND SOMEHOW "i" FELL CONFIDENT THAT I HAVE FULFILLED MY "GREAT COSMIC DESTINY"!

(wow, i think i'll get some beer on the way home tonight)

Sorry for being so chatty today but as I scrapped the stuble from my face I fell into deep depression as the previous post awakened a great philosophical question in me:

To Cycle or Recycle

Is it nobler to trash the bottle in a grand act of man's right to dominate the Earth as God intended or throw it in a separate bin and risk the fall of man from his pure and pristine role as the anointed defiler?

Cosmic Questions Make me CRAZY....

Although I got a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing that you like me, this has brought up a problem that I didn't know existed. There's another me? Damn! Now I have to figure out which one I am! Is this anything like Bizzaro Superman #1? And where is my other self? And if we physically meet does the Universe totally annihilate itself? And are there more than just two of us? Dang! My life has just gotten more complicated! This is all getting really too Star Trekish!

This must be the same phenomenon we cheryl's experience.

I was thinking about that line One God Many Forms, OK I am a secular humanist atheist by the definition of those who have created theism. Were I to label myself deist I would still be playing with there labels and definitions. I don't want to do that! Besides I can't even describe my feeling and concepts of (finger pointing in the air) the great mysteries of what conciousness brings! I am just pretty certain that those who tell me they know (sorry Leo) are wrong!

does that make any sense at all?

So I like both Gods and Dogs, I find them both entertaining at times and scary at times, I often think the scary part is not the Gods or Dogs but their masters.

I know deist is a kinder gentler way of saying Godless Secular Humanist, but if I have to attach one of their labels, I want it to be their harsh label to make sure there is no doubt I am separate from them on Judgement Day!
da dit da dit da dats all folks!

One thing I've been trying to say is this. The GOD the CHURCH AND STATE have made does not exist. (So Psbeaty, I don't blame you for any of your beliefs)
The dog I believe leave in, so something gone wrong in paradise, and we all ended up here. Some people I've met think we my have tried it all before on other planets. Who knows? Not me.
I wonder at times if the holy spirit is a lady.

you see Leo, THat is a fundamental difference between myself and those people of faith who have pushed me over the edge such that I feel compelled to speak of them in anger (an emotion I personally don't like) and that is that I believe we do live in Eden, I am awe struck by this planet and its marvelous resources, my problem is, I feel the human race is to busy squabbling over petty bullshit and ignoring what's real, and its painful and stupid and we just can't seem to sort it out! I am certain that creating artificial barriers (like religion and nationalism) is the wrong way to go!!!

but I'm mister lonely, I am so lonely

Because its hard (except for places like Arlonet) to find people who tolerate that position let alone support it! Everybody always makes excuses for there religions and nationalities and "self" interest! There should be no such thing as self interest in Eden....And to me, the most bizarre thing of all, is if you read the Bible with an objective brain, THAT IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY SAYS! Right there in Genesis somewhere and all the way through to John in the New Testament. (I mean God loved David, But David turned out to be a little self interested asshole who by the end looks at his son's and see's them as self interested little pricks as well, isn't that what it says? Are we reading the same text?) Who can figure (I sure can't?)

Oh, the Lamb broke the covenant between night and day while he was up three on the tree. Israel hasn't had a king since. I could tell you where that is written. But I would rather you found it for your self.
Well, in my mind the U S OF A's supprt for Israel right or wrong, is a big problem.
What Germany did to the Jews is no diferent than what we did to the Native American Indians. A fact is a fact.
I would rather live by how the Indians lived than what I'm Living by now.

And now for my world:

THe support of Israel. OK, we must rethink how we support anyone. We can't seem to figure out how to change a poor policy decision that is only 5 years old so what can we do about one that is 60 years old? Not saying your wrong here Leo I am just saying there is a far more fundamental issue than taking a list of what is going on and categorizing them into right or wrong and then dealing with them individually. I will say that if I were Palestinian I would be pissed myself and I would share that American Indian feeling.

What Germany did to the Jews is no different than what we did to Native Americans? I am a firm yes and no on this one. Mechanistically a genocide is a genocide and they are what they are (I will point out again that God told Joshua to practice genocide). I think urban genocide is the one that is of the greatest need of attention today in America and the world. Life is grand when you have a sunny economic outlook whereever you live. Why Dr Kennedy at Coral Ridge pompously tells of the evils of the working mother and the need for school vouchers he forgets that the war is on the streets of Baltimore and Philly and Bombay (its got a new name I know) or Moscow or Beijing. IN these environments a working mother may find herself in a better position to raise a good kid than one that doesn't work. It is not the lack of Christian Values being taught that is the problem. Its the lack of a way from that environment. Healthy well nourished educated and employed people make better neighbors regardless of their religion. Today, in America and throughout the world, we should be realigning our resources in ways that help achieve this goal of better neighbors. I see the policies these Chrisitan leaders proposing of separating and destroying attempts to get education and economic development into these areas as a continuation of genocidal activities against the poor that have been too much of a tradition in mans history!

I think the fantasy of the untainted savage is a fantasy (as far as living the way they did before we arrived). Some had pretty decent ecosystem in which to dwell and some didn't! THe point being that in the modern world we can either manage our resources and ecosystem for the common good or we can continue to separate ourselves into mindless fraction and pursue our own self interest (as a country or a religion or just an individual).

I watched Coral Ridge Ministries this morning and am all distraught that my daughter is a horrible failure because I divorced while she was young (and I had to fight for shared custody, but that is another story), that I worked as a single parent (she lived with me half the time), so, obviously she had to go somewhere while I worked (probably got better nurturing there than if she would have been with me as I am a Godless Secu...well you know), and she was educated in a public school as I was (and is therefore capable of dealing with those who are different in society without value judgemnets and she actually can interact with Gays and Blacks and Muslims without a stigma). Now I learn that this young woman who I am so proud of is a failure in society..sorry, I just can't deal with all this right now?
