Good friend, percussionist extraordinaire and all around great human being, Rob Fried, passed away last Friday, September 8, 2006 after an illness. Some of you who live in New England may know Rob as the percussionist from the band Max Creek and I know that some of you have attended their annual Camp Creek fests. Rob's passing not only leaves a big hole in the area's music scene but in the hearts of his friends, of which he had many. I miss you, buddy. Find your way onward.

Not being in New England, I didn't know him, but if he was/is a friend of yours, Captain Zap, I am diminished with your losing him. Peace.

Robert Fried, 55, died Friday, (September 8, 2006) at the McLean Home in Simsbury after a year long illness. He was born July 15, 1951, in Englewood, NJ, son of the late Arthur and Lillian Fried. He had been the percussionist for the legendary Max Creek Band for over 25 years. He also played on over 70 other recordings and most recently played with the Burt Teague Group and Dr. Juice. He is survived by his twin brother, Gary Fried of Hartford. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be celebrated Sunday, September 24, 3 p.m. at the First Church of Christ, 689 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury with the Reverend Robert Naylor officiating. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "The Fried Fund – Second Church" Second Congregational Church, 139 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich, CT 06830, which will be used for Scholarships for musically talented underprivileged youth. Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, has charge of the arrangements.

Following the memorial service at the First Church of Christ on Sunday, 9/24/06, there will be a memorial concert for Rob down the road at The Maple Tree Cafe, 780 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT.

Oh man he was the same age as Mike. More prayers just said for the family & his friends & you & vibes sent...

I believe there was a tribute to Rob Fried at the Garden of Eden Festival in MA this weekend. Max Creek is a marvelous band, and I know Rob will be missed by his bandmates and fans.
