FFBack: I wish I still had my 69 bug. ( well I wish I had all the cars I've owned, that would be considered classics.... My 454 Oldsmobile Rocket. 1966. My Chevy Biscayne, 3 speed on the column, 6 cylender, 63, and every Pontiac Car I've owned. My favorite was the Catalina, 1974)

To all the cars I've racked up, may they rest in piece.... My Volskvagon, was still on the road, yrs. after I sold it for a song....

But the damn thing, road like a go-cart...... ( I was young before my back injurys) The starter never worked, so I had to park it on a hill, so I could let it roll, and pop the clutch, to get it running.... Good thing was tho, I could stall in traffic, ( I was in great shape in the 70's working 4-10's in a sawmill, and walking 5 miles a day to the plantation) ... but I could push it from a dead stop, myself, and get it rolling fast enough to pop the clutch and away I would go.....

The person I sold it to, fixed it, and explained it wasn't the starter... The battery had some sort of short, and as long as it was running it had juice??? I'm not a mechanic, so I really don't have a clue????

I miss my Chevy Biscaynne the worst tho.... It was cherry, and the 6 cylinder is was great on gas, 3 speed on the column is a very fun car to drive..... And I had the best car stereo, I've ever owed at the time...

I fell down on my luck, losing my licence for a DUI, and I sold it, along with my Fender Stratacaster... ( white like Jimi's)....... But in hindsight, I had enought $$$ to rent a house in the City, and start a fresh life, with my now wife....... A couple grand was allot of money in 1983.... I rented a duplex, for 275$$$ a month, and paid 3 mnts, rent in advance.... Life was easy back in those days..... (this is a cheap area to live, to this day... You can rent a decent house for 500$ a mnth..... Compared to 1500$$ a mnth for an apartment in NYC......

I wish I could do my life over, but who hasn't thought that???? My brother suggest I invest in classic cars....... but I think he just says that, to rub in my past life.... LIVES....

Piece out// Rob

Thanks Freaky for sparking some great memorys.......

Those were the good old days. Nobody knows you when your down and out.... but, I truely believe better days are just around the corner, and I have my internet friends here on arlo.net, and myspace that keep me going these days......

Thanks to you all..... You mean so much, words would never express it all... Tx again, Freaky :)

I fondly remember my '64 Chevy van. Flat windshield, manual choke, three speed standard on the column and the engine located between the driver and passenger seats. Forget it if ever in a head on.....you'd be pushin' up daisies fer sure. But it was a cool ol' truck. I bought it in '74 and it lasted another ten years before it rusted out completely. It came with blue shag padded carpeting, wood paneling and fuzzy blue fake fur on the ceiling header. I had a log for the back bumper.

One time I pulled over to the side of the road with a clogged fuel filter. I look in the side mirror and see a car weaving from lane to lane and, sure enough, he smacks right into my ass end. I get out to see if he's okay and how much damage he did. He rolls down his window. A cloud of smoke pours out as he's tokin' on a fatty. "Wanna hit?" he asks me. "Ummm, thanks, but no," I say. My log is cracked. His grill and head lights are smashed, almost as wasted as he is. He shrugs. I figure I can go out in the woods again and get another log. He drives off. I run into him in a convenience store about a week later. He says he hit somebody else after me and totaled his car. I got another log.

Captain Zap: Are you sure we didn't meet in the 70's???? Sounds like somethng I woulda done back then....... ( I'd put L O L but it aint funnY)

I hit a tractor off a side road off a side road one time. My bumper fell off, and I got out and yelled at the guy, telling him, " don't you know how to fucking drive, get that damn tractor outta my way"..... I closed the local bar. I went to the bar the next morning for a hair of the dog.. ( unaware my front bumper was missing off my 69 bug) after a coupld hrs. of drinking, some farmers came in and said, hey, theres that guy... I said hey what's up, let me buy you a drink... he said don't you want your bumper. I said what bumper??? he said the one you lost last nite, you ran right into my tractor. It's on my front lawn, if yur interested. He lived right acrros the st to the bar, kitty corner. I argued, with him, you have me misstaken for somebody else sir... He took me over and showed me my crome bumper, and it was then I noticed my bumper was missing.... I bought him a beer, and we became fast freinds... Atlho he said I called him every filthy name in the book, the previous night..... I said I was sorry.. He said, don't worry bout it....

Luckily a few yrs. later I stumbled into an AA meeting, and kept going to AA for 4 long yrs....... And I havnen't had drink since.... ( Unless you call falling off the wagon when my Mother died, and got falling down pathetically drunk, with crying jag and all)

I don't think your human, if you don't get falling down drunk, the day your Mother dies.... I quit drinking the next day.... A night in a drunk tank, sobered me up, and I figured me Mom wouldn't want it that way...

I have NO regrets tho. I'd do it all over again... ( well the part about gettin drunk when my Mom passed) the other I woud do over, but we all know, that's just a pipe dream... god dosen't let yu do do-overs, or we might not have war and stuff....

Sorry for rambling Capt. Zap....

Piece out/ Rob

To quote Led Zep, "ramble on", Rob. It's good fer ya. How do you think Ramblin' Jack got his name? Well, I don't really know myself and ADG, bein' well acquainted with the man, might disagree but I think it may apply to his gift of gab as well as his bein' a rolling stone. We used to have a little folk festival up in these parts to benefit the volunteer fire dept. I used to help out and one year ol' Jack was the headliner. So, I got to bump into him over the course of a few days as he was staying at the house of a friend who used to live in town who organized the festivals. Well, Jack may have traveled more than his fair share to get that name, but he can also talk up a storm when he gets goin', most of it more than worth listening to. And what a nice guy! Down to earth, treating everybody like they were his pals and he even played for all the festival volunteers at the firehouse the night before the festival just for the joy of it. Jack's a national treasure who deserves much more recognition than he has. And look at me now, ramblin' away!

Ya'll have some interesting stories on here. I had an 82 Mustang which was my first car. The only reason I traded it in some ys ago for another car cuz it kept cutting off on me at stoplights which was scary. Mike would drive it & claim it never did that to him. Maybe it liked him better. A few yrs ago I saw one like it but a different color at an antique car show. If had kept it long enough I'd have had an antique car. If I could afford it it'd love to have an antique car. When we got married Mike had an red early 70's Duster. Maybe a 72 model. It was a nice car with an 8-track in it but he had to junk it cuz it was not running good at all & about to go & would've cost him too much to fix it up. It was a shame as it was a nice one. He had a blue Duster he was trying to fix up but had to junk it as it was too much on him trying to fix it. No he's legally blind so no more fixing on old cars...

hmmm ok I take back what i said last week,,,now its FREAKING HOT!!!
its 91 and with humidex 114 and still climbing  94% humidity.
I,m melting,melting,what a world,what a world!!!

Hmmm cars...wish I had the 68 or 70 charger I had way back when, they sell for big bucks now but if I had one now I wouldn,t part with it.The 68 had a 383 c.i. magnum all done up with mickey thompson chrome valve covers with chrome hold downs, edelbrock intake, full race cam, bored out cylinders and oversized pistons with dually thrush exhaust, headers, and of course the good ole holley four barrell carb, air suspension, never mind the zoom, zoom, zoom of today,,,LOL it was ZOOM,ZOOM,ZOOM, back then:)
The 70 was a plain Jane but i,d settle for one like it now.

Well i,m off to be a mall person or something somewhere with air conditioning.

Sounds like Canadas having the seme kinda temps we are. Heat indices of over 100. The meterologist on one of the channels said that today is gonna be hot enough that if you want to fry an egg on the sidewalk tomorrow (which is now today) is the day to do it...

agnes: your welcome. but don't thank me. It's folks like you, that have made it.... So I shoud be thanking yu...

BTW: The heatwave seems to be taking aback... But's it's too early in the day to tell. I sure hope so, as breathing all that bad air, has my COPD in the worst condition, I can remember..... I've been living next to my nebulizer, and having peti malls, from side effects of albuteral, toxitty... so my sedatives are on the shelf...

I feel like shit. I hope Sparky is okay. It was 110 degrees yesterday in Albany NY... I don't know what it was here, but people were talking about frying eggs on the sidewalk..... The furhter north the hotter...

Cool weather sent your way Sparky-Plug

Hey rb and Kurt, thanks,,,,I can breathe today(no puffers yet),,,and even slept last night. Both breathing and sleeping were difficult the last couple days.
Tuesday when it was at its worst I had to head out for blood pressure meds, took my time on bike and when passing through a large park found a shady spot to stop and re hydrate with water,it was totally surreal as this park is/has become the largest dog toilet in the city in recent years, usually no matter where you are in the 100 plus acre park you can see at least 4-6 people and lots of dogs.I sat for about 20 mins and the whole time I saw 3 people just passing through on the bike paths....
Man I hate to think what the air and climate will be in the years to come for the coming generations, what a damn mess we have made in the last 100 years!!
