I never thought in a million years that I would have the chance to be standing next to the one time movie star and one time TV star and all the time legendary musician who made a milestone at Woodstock with the famous public service announcement, "New York State Thruway is closed, man!" I was nervous at first and then 3 seconds later when I asked for his autograph I was very comfortable I told him about the pic on the Alice's Restaurant book that it looked like a commercial for a beer ad and he agreed with me

Same with me. I met him after the show, had him sign my poster, and we were talking about FarmAid (I was there) and I told him that my dad and I had a bet as to whether or not he'd play multiple songs or Alice (I won with Alice). He was like "yeah, and the ironic thing is it televised on Thanksgiving. That was really fitting." Arlo is very awesome to meet. Really nice dude.

He is awesome that is why I want to go back to more shows for a 2 for 1 deal, stand up comedy and music. Good thing I picked Arlo over the Smothers Brothers I almost went to go see them at the University of Connecticut but had to take care of personal business. I watched them on TV lot when I was young and always like their song they sang on their programs "I'm a little bit country......I'm a little bit Rock and Roll" Oh wait thats Donny and Marie OOH those guilty pleasures! Puke!

Thanks, Kurt. That was fresh, not just the usual canned stuff--sounds like a Blundervirgin who actually attended the concert wrote it; someone not realizing that he/she was standing out in the field, pointing, and saying, "He went that way."

Really nice written article, liked it a lot, copied some of it so I can print it and look at it and think about it, trying to make me more conscious of what I say and do. Especially liked:Guthrie said, "As I've grown older, I've come to think that, if everyone took care of their own little peace, the big peace would take care of itself."

The Boston Globe in its Arts & Entertainment section today Dec. 11, 2005 page N11 has various writers listing their picks for the best CDs of 2005.
Scott Alarik (a fine folk perfomer himself) has listed "Arlo Guthrie, Live in Sydney" among his top ten picks.
Has this to say about the CD:
"Folk's favorite son has never sounded better. He rambles through his life in song as only a Guthrie can ramble, melding past and present into one warm, hilariously observed, and musically splendid moment."

From checking out the Blackfire website, I think "Mean Things Happening In This World" is one of the things Nora has been working on. The words are by Woody Guthrie and the music is by Blackfire.
