These shows first aired 1965-66 and have been available on video tape for years but were quite costly. Shanachie is releasing selected episodes on dvd (2 shows per disc, approx, 2 hours) at a reasonable $19.99 ea. I've been getting mine TWWDMH for substantially less. Shows released so far have included Pete with Johnny and June Carter Cash, Judy Collins, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGhee, Mississippi John Hurt, Stanley Brothers, Doc Watson, etc...Great stuff!

I loved Rainbow Quest! Where we were living in '65-'66, the show would be on sometimes at 11:30 at night on a weekend, or at 2AM on a weekday, so I would have to sneak downstairs to watch it...a dedicated folkie even at age 12. Pete had Patrick Sky as a guest for one show, and this was in the days of small reel-to-reel tape recorders. I sometimes taped those shows so I could get the words and music to the songs, and that was one of the shows I taped...I think I still have those tapes in the basement. I remember sometime after taping that show, sitting alone in my room with my Harmony guitar and the tape, trying to figure out just how Patrick Sky played "Separation Blues".

I bet the tv show of Pete's ya'll are talking about is one my late Uncle Carlton used to watch. It came on a channel outta NY he could get in Richmond sometimes & he'd watch it. I'd like to see it sometime. I bet it's good...
