Someone is offering on ebay (item # 2294909978) a large number of original Woody Guthrie items for the grand sum of $65,000.00. The collection originated from Moe Asch and contains 14 unpublished songs, letters, articles, 19 signatures, drawings, etc. This stuff belongs in the Woody Guthrie Archives! I tried to reach them through their website but the "contact us" link isn't working. I'll try calling them tomorrow but don't know if the office will be open due to the holiday. Anyhow I kind of doubt the archives is in a postion to acquire the collection, but they should at least be aware of it's existence. Wanted: someone with deep pockets to buy this stuff and donate it to the archives. Who needs a deduction?

Let's see...at 32 cents apiece, that would only take 2,031,250 of us. Or, a little more do-able, at $32 apiece, 2,032 of us. There's only about 12 hours left in the auction (though no bids yet). We're in, Cheryl, if you can round up 2,030 more Blunderites with $32.

So -- I'm dying to know - did the Woody Foundation/Archive get told about this and get ahold of this stuff? Followup/results would be good to know.

Here it is folks! Still have it bookmarked.

I assume the Foundation/Archives already know about it, but for posterity, someone could drop them a line with the above address link. I really don't know anything about it other than, I think, Nora is in charge of it. I could be wrong on that.

Hope this helps those concerned.
