I'm going to see Richie Havens on Friday. I'm super excited. Has anybody seen him live before? What should I expect? Does he do a meet and greet like Arlo? That would be super cool.

Speaking of... I can't wait until November at the Birchmere!

I've seen Richie a couple of times... wonderful shows! I'm amazed at the man's energy! I have to see if I can get tickets for his October 1 show in Chester NY (anyone else interested in that one?)

You can anticipate hearing songs both old and new... and yes, he almost always does "Freedom" - but the song isn't 18+ minutes long - LOL ... And yes, he usually does a meet and greet, although his agent is usually there, so it's far more 'structured' than an Arlo meet and greet.

If you have a chance, pick up his latest - "Grace of the Sun" - It's wonderful!

I saw a good program on Ritchie Havens on PBS a few yrs back. It was just him singing to some interviewer in some club. Just the 2 of them. Really intimate. Enjoy the show!

I'm even more excited now! And releeeeeeeeved that Freedom is not 18 minutes because then I get to hear more! YEE! Wow, i've taken a lot of cold medicines... I'm going crazy.

Richie is part of a free concert at Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie, NY this coming Saturday Sept. 18. Part of the Hudson River Arts Festival, Richie is expected to take the stage ~6p.m.

MAN! Do i feel dumb right now... I signed the guestbook on his website and i got a reply in my email. It was in the filtered email (if you know hotmail). Well, i saw it there, but i've been sick and it did not compute that i saw "Rhavens" written there until i pressed the delete button! I am sad, but more bothered by my self on that one. Geez, i guess i'll just have to meet him on friday or something? Countdown: 2 more days!

May I suggest that you log back into Hotmail and check the "trash" folder? It might still be there! Good luck.

Sorry that you lost that message... if it's any consolation, since it got sorted into your bulk mail folder, it probably was a 'form letter' saying thank you for visiting the website, rather than a personal message. But I certainly do understand you feeling bummed out about it. Look at the bright side though... in just two days, you will see and hear Richie, and probably get a chance to say hello and maybe collect an autograph!

Wyld, you're right. Whenever people sign my guestbook, they get an automated email thanking them for signing my guestbook. I totally forgot about that.

Just saw him on PBS last night singing with Pete Seeger (also lots of others) ... didn't see much of the show (bedtime hits earlier and earlier ... egads). Wish I'd seen it in the TV Guide, but obviously missed the major part of the show. Should be on repeatedly though since it's pledge time.

Please let us know how much fun you had! (I like to live vicariously.)

Due to the weather, I decided the safest option was not to go. The venue was uncertain at 2:30 whether or not they were having the show and I figured I shoudn't be out on 66 in rush hour traffic with everyone else battling this storm. So, I went home with a few friends and listened to him.

...Later on in the evening the power went out and we started writing comical songs to pass time when we also discovered a large funnel cloud less than 500 yards away. With much profanity spilling from our mouths we ran to the basement and flip an old couch in front of us, Trench Warfare style. The storm never found us, luckily and because the power was out, none of my friends saw me with the pasta strainer on my head as a helmet.

I did recieve the email from him though! He sent it back to me! I've got him on my calendar now for Febuary at Wolf Trap. NOTHING will get in my way!

You must be near Chantilly, VA where they had tornadoes. I saw that on our news. I hope no blunderites were affected by that. You'll have to come to the Birchmere shows of Arlos in Nov in Alexandria. Great shows, good times, & some nice blunderites show up too!

I'm a bit west of Chantilly. From what I understand... Bealton got it worst. That's where the other high school of our town is. I was banking on the fact that the show would cancel anyways since Chantilly is close to Arlington.
I also love the Birchmere. Very pretty and intimate.

Mr. Breton, I'm sorry you didn't get to see Richie, but it's best all around that people stay safe. Hope you have another opportunity soon!
