not too many folks are writing real protest songs anymore. Afraid of Ashcroft or something I guess. I found 2 guys that are doing it...and doing it well. Woody would be proud as hell....especially the part about how they give the songs away for free.

Actually they are afraid of the same kind of bashing that Tim Robbins had to take for speaking the truth,not to mention being boycotted by corporate media that panders to paranoid conservative republicans.One word against Bush and his cronies could label you a commie,terrorist sympathizer (sound familiar?).Atleast The Beastie Boys are one band brave enough to risk the wrath of the GOP agenda.(Read the lyrics to "A World Gone Mad" at their website.)

should not really matter in folk music. radio has to actually PLAY you before they can boycott you.
