From riding the rails with Woody Guthrie to campaigning for a cleaner Hudson River, reluctant folk hero Pete Seeger tells it like it was, is, and could be.

All I needed to know about Pete Seeger came when Billy Bragg told him that he liked the way Seeger sang the L'Internationale in French, good stirring pre-Russian Communard anthem that it is, but that the English words especially as hacked up by Stalin's people were pretty tired. Pete Seeger said that music is for and by people, it lives and evolves, and if Bragg could make up better words than by all means do so. Billy Bragg took a real good whack at it. It's on one of his albums.

This is what it's all about. Seeger is a treasure.
