Happy Birthday, Arlo from Germany. Hope you get a big birthday cake and lots of cool presents. Looking forward to seeing you in Frankfurt in September. You should have toured Germany for the past 4 weeks during the Soccer World Championship. I think you would have liked that. Besides having had the perfect weather (which is not a common thing over here) I never saw so many crazy Germans before. Didn't know we had it in us. I imagine a little bit like the Woodstock feeling happened over here. Public viewing places in the big citys (since not enough seats in the stadions were available) were attended by more than 800.000 people alone in Berlin at one time. Alltogether over 16 Million from all around the world watched soccer on the german streets, played music together, had fun together regardless of origin, race, religion, colour or whatever. The fans from Iran, USA, Brasil, Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Ucraine and so on they all came and had a big party whithout any trouble or fights. I just find it amazing. It shows that people can live together in peace if they have a common target and have respect for another and don't get mislead by some "profilneurotischen" politicians. I hope some of that spirit will still be here when you tour through Germany.

We share a birthday, Arlo. Don't remember when I figured this out, but I do remember sitting literally at your feet during a gig you did at a Boy Scout jamboree, probably in upstate New York, probably 1967. "Alice's Restaurant" hadn't hit big yet, so can't actually say we'd ever heard of you, but me and my 10-year-old cub scout buddies were very impressed with "The Motorcycle Song." Have been a fan ever since.

Let's see.... that would be 39 years ago, making us (gasp) 49 and 59 respectively! Thought about waiting until milestone 50th/60th to send this note, but what the heck.... will send another next year too!

All the best to you and yours. Hope you can get up to Canada one of these days.

Happy Birthday Arlo! My local newspaper lists "celebrity birthdays" everyday, and if it makes you any feel better,not that you would feel bad anyway, there was a list of about 10 of them today, and at 59, you were the youngest one listed!

Hey Jeff,welcome aboard ;) Arlo was just here in Canada in May,he did Toronto,Ottawa and Kingston.So far all that is on schedule for Canada is the west coast next spring,but keep checking the schedule link on the left of the page,ya never know ;).peace,Don
