Your description of Vegemite is very good, Larry! It's one of those things you have to grow up with (like whale blubber, which,if our forebears had not left the old country of Norway, you and I would probably love!) My Oz grandparents used to send a jar over to us in Oregon every Christmas so I was eating it as soon as I came into the world! Then, as now, there weren't too many Vegemite lovers in the entire U.S.of A.! Kids here get it put on their dummys (pacifiers). At least now you can say you've tried it, which I'm sure some weren't game to do! Let me know what you want next year. I'd love to send Tim Tams (Aussies crave them when their O.S.) but the chocolate would melt.

Sorry I missed meeting all you wonderful folks in person. Sounds like it was a great "Blundergate" party. Well, we'll plan on next year. Should have some elderberry mead by then.

It sounds like you all had a realy great time, Sorry I havn't been on this thread much(house buying, sorting out special educational needs and teething problems means)I've been a bit busy latly, and next week we are going on holiday.

Larry, I too like your discription of vegimite. So being so verbaly gifted could you please tell me what 'Taffy' is, other than a slang term for a welsh man. I've heard this a few times on tv programs and havn't a clue what it is. ( sorry if I'm wandering off topic.)

Larry,I asked the Swiss cheese of course. And a photo came from cyberspace!

Beverly, when I was a kid in Oregon we used to make our own Taffy. My Mom made the hot brew with melted sugar and stuff. Then when it was cool enough to touch we would coat our hands in butter then pull the taffy out then fold it and pul again. Then roll it in a long snake shape then cut it in pieces, then let it set. It's called Toffee here in OZ.

Louise...No kidding...Toffee and Taffy are the same thing? (I know you don't know me, but this just really caught my eye)

AND to go back to the thread-before we all get bounced outtahere...Im sending out a huge round of applause for those Fall Revival PEACE cookies!!! (I finally got one...and although I'll never understand how you make 'um they were deeelish. (Does the recipe start by growing your own butter or something? (Yuk yuk)

yeah Bev,....taffy is like toffee. it's also good for removing loose fillings and dental crowns and caps.

I Know what Toffee is! Thanks for clearing that up. And to keep Kinda on topic When I ever get back to the church I'll bring some real English Bonfire Toffee with me for the Tailgate as it will be the right time of year. not very chewy, so not much good for pulling out fillings and crowns, but there's certinly enough sugar in it to strip the enamel off your teeth. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/yum.gif" width=15 height=15>
