Pam, the usual is to get Monday off with pay or if you have to work, you get paid double-time. As you know the boss pretty well, I'd have a talk with him, in the presence of his mother. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

Pam, I haven't had "real" job since I was pregnant with my oldest, 21 years ago. But at mt part-time tutoring "job" at the college, when the college is closed for a holiday, I don't get paid. Mine is a hourly rate job.

However, at least back in the good old days, I had salaried jobs and I always got paid for Mondays (Sunday holidays) and Fridays (Saturday holidays).

I get paid for 6 holidays. (New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas) If I take off any other day - whether federal or state holiday or just a day I chose, I either take a vacation day (and get paid) or take a personal day (and don't get paid).

I worked through my entire pregnancy. Just thought I'd mention it.

That's a coincidence, Larry. I worked thru your entire pregnancy, too!

We were gonna drive home after Hampton but we decided rather than drive back & forth both days we'll stay overnite at a motel between the shows & drive home Fri. nite...

Oh, pictures...

Um, ok, so I was gone a few years there. While I was gone I met Stuart aka Stuey aka Stu from Yorkshire, England. I grew up a major James Herriot fan - he was a vet who wrote stories about his practice in "Darrowby" in Yorkshire. (In reality, James was named Alf Wight, and lived in Thirsk in Yorkshire.)

In January, I went to England for three (count em, three) weeks. I stayed with Stu and his mum, and he and I went to Wales (Travelodge was having a super deal with rooms for 5 pounds a night,) and also to Leicester to visit another friend of mine, Noz (aka Norman, but he won't answer to that). Noz took us to see Stonehenge.

I got horribly sick there, was suffering from the Apnea and sciatica (and sinus infections), but I had a wonderful time. I got to see Skeldale House, where Herriot lived/practiced!!!!!!!!! Ok, I thought that was great!

Anyway, I have 2 things online - a day-to-day diary or log, which is at The Log , and photo galleries, which are at Photo Album

Star ... looked for a minute just to find James Herriot's house--he was favorite of mine too. Loved those books. I'll look forward to having a few more minutes (maybe someday soon) to looking at more photos. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Pam. Skeldale was wonderful! The house next door is the gift shop/vet museum, and Skeldale is set up like it was, years ago.

It's similar to the tv show, but different, too. The people there were So Friendly. We sat at the Kitchen Table! It was just so cool!
