My father is dying. He is in the end stage of emphysema, has had a heart condition for over 25 years (refused bypass that long ago) and he's in denial and loaded with fear... fear of not being able to blow off the Co2, fear of dying, fear of being left alone.

Please mentally send your thoughts to him that he has an easier time of it.

Thanks,
Terrie

Thoughts coming your dad's way. I have been through the very same thing. Be sure to take care of yourself. Vibes of comfort and prayers of peace are there for you if you want them.

Thanks so much everyone. I do want to share this with you, maybe it'll make you smile.

While my father's in denial about needing hospice (if not for him, then for Marian to be able to take a much needed break), he's also getting major panic attacks and screams, yes screams... I can't breathe, I'm dying.. and other stuff.

Well, I decided it's time to explain to him my feelings on being dead... and how we don't need our earthly bodies, they are just containers for the spirit of who we really are... and on and on about what dead feels like...

He interrupts me with, "in this country, for the past 3 million years, the death rate has not changed."

Well, we haven't been here in this country for 3 million years, so I didn't understand what he was telling me.

Then he said, "one per person."
