I'm thinking of you Pam and Terrie and also about how lucky the loved ones of all of you who have posted were, to have such caring families around them in their last days. I worked in aged care for 9 years and knew many sad, lonely people who died alone except for we who took care of them. So it's so nice to hear these loving stories. My mom and dad are 80 and 85 and have both had to live with cancer but have both been lucky enough to still live happy normal lives so far. I can't imagine what it's like losing a parent. It was bad enough losing all my grandparents. I had 6 (two step)and loved then all dearly even tho my Dad's Dad died before I was born. But I know they are all around me in the wind, the rain and the air I breath.

It must be the season for seriously ill family members. I heard from Shirley this morning. Her Dad is very sick again. Here's what she wrote:

"My dad's been in the hospital all week, the bleeding started again and it
got better but now it's bad again. He was in the ICU until yesterday, was
in a room for one day and this morning my mother called and said he's
bleeding badly again, 2 transfusions so far this a.m. & is back in the ICU
and I'm on my way to Dallas. Prayers and Blundervibes, please."

It's a sort of continuation of his previous problems from the last year or two, I guess. Shirley says he's very weak, so she's real worried, but he's surprised them and made it out of the woods a few times before, so she's hopeful. She'll be away from her computer while she's in Dallas, but she has my phone # and will let me know what happens. I know she would appreciate your prayers.

Thanks, everyone!

Judy, thanks for letting us know about Shirley's dad. This touch and go stuff is maddening. I hope he begins to rally.

Love, prayers and healing vibes sent out for Shirley, her dad and the rest of her family.

It is a tough time for all us baby boomers. It seems we are all becoming orphans. I remember when I became a mother and was scared because Mothers always knew everything. And I didn't. But my mother was always there with advise even when I sometimes didn't want it

My mother is still with us but I know her time is short too. Some times the reality that we are becoming the elders of the tribe sets in. And it SUCKS! But every now and again when I need them most I can hear the words of wisdom of those who have gone on before me echo in my mind. And my heart is warmed with the knowledge that they are always there for us if we just listen close enough.

Blundervibes for Pam's grandmother, Terrie's dad and Shirley's dad... and lots of vibes for their families as well.

You are surrounded by love. Remember that, always!

Thanks to all for the blundervibes--Grandma is about the same. Nothing in, nothing out, and pretty much just sleeping all the time. Not a coma, but she's not really waking up. She doesn't seem to be in pain, but also doesn't seem to be aware that anyone is around--but there is usually someone there. I imagine she'll simply slip away soon.

Blundervibes for Terrie and Shirley, too. I guess it is the season.

Thanks to all for the beautifully written posts.

Still sending out loving vibes and prayers for all of you dealing with the illness of your loved ones.

Even when they don't seem to be aware that y'all are around they are and it means so much to them that you are. Talk to them softly, play remember when, talk about the fun times or special little things they did with you. "SING!!!!!" Kitty reminded us when Chucks dad was at the end that "Music is medicine for the soul" and she was so right. Their souls are at a higher level of awareness than ever and they are very aware of all of you and all your love that is surounding them and lifting them.

As sad as you feel and as hard as it is sing, laugh, and rejoyce with them. Fill their rooms with love and life. I promise these things will comfort them now and later these moments and the way you spent them will comfort you.

And listen real close and you will hear the quite little hums of all the BLUNDERVIBES and you'll know we are all right there with you.

Big Huge Love

Hi, Pam. I've been thinking a lot about you these past few days and I'm so sorry you have to deal with this pain. It seems to me as if grandma is taking care of herself and is already in a better place.... no pain, she's probably at peace. It's you who needs to take care of herself right now. I hope you can take some healing time for yourself.

I haven't been on this side for a while. My prayers and blundervibes go out to everyone dealing with the illness of a loved one. It's always so sad. I went through it with my mom in a nursing home while i lived 4 hours away. Altho it was a few years ago, I remember all the anguish and tears of feeling so helpless. I hope you all use your strength and energy to help those around you and especially yourself. Believe me ... it's ok to cry, it helps to cleanse the soul. You are all SO loved by SO many.

Just got the call that Grandma passed away. She did wake when I saw her Friday afternoon--I was able to tell her I loved her and she said she loved me too. Very soon after she seemed to be in a lot of pain, so we were busy making sure she had the morphine she needed. We all felt it was better for her to have enough morphine to be pain free even if it meant we would not have another chance to speak with her. (Although we all spoke TO her.)

The nurses and aides were wonderful to us. Sunday they moved her roommate out temporarily so we could have some privacy (plus it was getting quite crowded).

Grandma LOVED being the matriarch of a large family (16 grandkids, 29 great-grandkids, and lots of great-greats). Almost everyone was able to say goodbye. She knew she was well-loved and that it was okay to go.

Thank you all for your thoughts and blundervibes--so comforting.

Blundervibes continue for Terrie and Shirley's families, and for Connie's mom, too.

((((((Pam))))))

I'm so glad that you had the opportunity to tell your grandmother that you love her. That love between you will stay with you forever.

Heart-healing blundervibes going to you, Pam, and all your family.
