Hey, Todd, do you get as tired of listening to Tim McCarver as I do?

We both saw him play...He was certainly a good player. But today he talks as if he never made a mistake on the field!

I was there at 3 Rivers Stadium--July 4, 1976, the nation's bicentennial---big doubleheader between the Pirates & Phillies, back when McCarver was still Carlton's personal catcher. McCarver batted with the bases loaded, belted the ball over the wall, & was called out for passing the runner on first base!!!

McCarver made mistakes. Believe it.

this being our only baseball thread, i figured i could put this here...

yankees just won game three..az up 2-1 though..anway..

in april pres bush threw out the first pitch somewhere...he bounced the ball well before home plate...

but not tonight,,he must have been practicing ...probably to relieve stress.

he not only pitched to the catcher..it was a damn good looking strike!!!

i held my breath...Get Some Boss!! Get Some?

he had good stuff. afterall, he did pitch for yale.

go yankees!

that was cool huh, Todd? a little breaking ball, caught the outside 1/3 of the plate, W' shows some cool at times.
I still remember the coin toss, '61 army-navy game, JFK flipped the coin up, then snatched it from air, palm down, planted it on his wrist & showed it to the ref, that was a cool move, too.
I love NY, but, the Desert Express, Santa Fe train's left the station, Shilling & Johnson are gonna silence Yankee bats, it's over in 6, D-Back's turn!

Wow! Game 6, 15-2, Arizona over NY. Or is OUCH! a better word.
In the 3 games AZ has beat NY so far, it has been by 8, 4, and 13 runs. In the 3 games NY has beat Arizona, it has been by 1, 1, and 1 runs. Do these statistics mean anything? Tonight, NY's ace pitcher, Roger Clemens faces off with AZ's, Curt Schilling, both damn good pitchers. It should prove to be a pretty interesting game to say the least. The suspense escalates as the 2001 World Series enters into the 7th and final game tonight. It'll be hotdogs and a few cold ones for my son and I as we watch on TV (rooting for NY) while wishing we were actually there. Which team do YOU think will win tonight?
New York Yankees or Arizona Diamondbacks?

(Wyld here on HomerJ's computer...)

OK, Homer says it will be the Diamondbacks, but I disagree...

I think the Yanks will take it... in extra innings!

i'm just glad it went to seven games...

but, we've always been yankee blue, tried and true around here. which isn't easy being stuck in a crossfire between baltimore, philly, and pittsburg.

any thoughts, joe b?

Well Wyld, Homer was right! And there was a wild homer (the only homer) in the top of the eighth inning off NY's Soriano. Too bad the bases weren't loaded, huh? Never saw so many fouled tipped balls in my life from both teams! Derek Jeter made some kickass plays. He got my vote for game 7 MVP. Better luck next year, Yankees.
The worst part of it all was, my son drank the very last beer ! Image
