My husband Lance (whom some of you have met) just graduated from Albright College today with a degree in Applied Psych. He graduated with "highest" honors, summa cum laude.

My daughter Corey has completed her Finals for her senior year and will graduate from high school on Thursday.

We're just back from our family celebratory dinner at Red Lobster. I'm SO proud of both of them!

Congratulations to a rightfuly proud mom/wife & good luck to the graduates! That's wonderful news & a nice picture, too.

Next week I have graduations from elementary school & middle school. They grow up fast, eh?

Ahhhhhh.....to be young again & graduating from college....with all that potential...all those choices ahead.....the excitement of the future...heck, I'd just settle for not having to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom!

I'm kinda sure that Lance's degree will come in handy for someone married to a blunderite! <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15> Congrats to the whole clan!

Joe, I hear ya! Those middle-of-the-night trips can be brutal... especially since we "live" on the 3rd floor and the bathrooms are down on floors 2 and ground. And no elevator! I used to think of my huge 3rd floor bedroom/office as "my penthouse" but not so anymore. Now it's just a pain.

As for the college thing... going back to school at our age has made us "young" again. I'm full-time day... Lance was full-time evening. I go to classes with kids my kids' ages. Lance's classes were all adults, full-time workers. As hard as it was, both of us in school, no one home to clean the house or shop for food or cook meals, we've done it together! I never saw it that way until last night.

See, with no one home to do all the "home" stuff, my house is a mess, my books, papers, notes, folders... not to mention all the "other" stuff lying around... and ordering out EVERY dinner, or going out which only took more time away from homework and studying... well, it's been VERY stressful.

But last night was different. I realized how very proud I was of Lance for sticking with it. After a few years, he was no longer going back to finish his degree because I forced him to. He actually got into the whole thing, and was doing it for HIM. And that made the whole difference.

He thanked me last night for forcing him to go back, and thanked me for all the insistence over the years. That, last night, made all the difference and made the messy house, the leftovers of take-out all that more endurable.

Joe, if you even think for a second that going back to college would only be "fantasy," then I say "just do it!" It's fun, it's challenging, a great way of meeting new people, it keeps the brain functioning and has been proven to help prevent dementia in later years. And, what's the best part, is you get to learn new things, see new perspectives.

No thanks, Terrie, I'm a college grad & a law school grad, went straight thru & finished everything when I was 25, & I can't even think about being a student again!

My wife, however, is currently going for another masters degree in social work. I admire folks like her & you & your husband who can go back to school after all these years. I certainly couldn't do it. I used to think it might be cool to return to law school just to sit in on some courses I didn't get to take way back when, but I guess I'm too burned out now & I take more pleasure in having time for my kids' ball games & dance recitals & such.

Lance is going on for his Master's. May take a year off first, not sure yet. He's thinking about clinical psych.

I'm going for my PhD in Anthropology, since I can't teach without the doctorate. Planning on UNM, Albuquerque. One of the only schools that offers Forensic Anthropology and Indians all in one location.

Eric's working on his BA in Secondary Education/History and Corey's about to enter college for her BA in Secondary Education/Health & Phys Ed. The jury's still out on Michael who wants to divide his time between being a cop and a soldier.

I know what you mean, Arnie, but you know how unreasonable these women can be. They all think that their wedding ring entitles 'em to sleep in a dry bed!

I stayed with some cool people at UNM Albuquerque in the summer of 77. They had their own house on campus. (they had a cool faculty advisor). They called themselves the "Slumber Party"...

edited for goofiness

Terrie, Albuquerque is one of my most favorite places in the whole USA. Most of New Mexico is a favorite place. It is breath-takingly beautiful and the people are unique. Used to do the annual pilgrimage to the balloon fiesta...now the Church conflicts...guess which one wins out these days? LOL!
