Pat ... even more blundervibes on the way for Bob's continued improvement. We went through this with my mother--it's very scary. Thoughts and prayers are with you and Bob.

Blundervibes to Bob and Pat

:update: on my friend Jane, well its been a while for a few reasons, one being not sure where things were going.
It was a brain bleed Jane had a few months back, not her first either. It was quite scary for a while getting her blood pressure sorted out and waiting for some medications to do their work and be taken off of others.Once she was out of the medicated fog.She seems to be her old self other then some weakness ,more so on one side. Now one of the crappy things is due to our health system here it is "hurry up and wait" for everything.
Jane was left in her hospital bed most of the time getting the minimal therapy and exercise while waiting for several months to get into a facility to recieve the therapy and rehab needed to stop the atrophy and get her stronger.
She was moved into the facility a few weeks back and now is going through a day almost like a "work" day each and every day.
She is getting sprung on weekends and I can see a big improvement in her strength, still a bit to go before she can be transferring from her wheelchair on her own,I hope my back last,s until then.
But I figure its just a matter of time, she is a fighter,a laminated news article on the wall from twenty years back after her accident and before her first aneurysm, described her as "strong, stubborn and courageous",I have to agree
LOL now on the humorous side, Jane has been a "smoker" for years and even at the hospital was wheeled out by friends for a toke. She says it helps with her pain, spasistity in legs etc.Now at the rehab place they are telling her and everyone there that they are to stay away from alcohol and drugs anyone with a brain injury is likely to have a seizure from smoking pot.
Funny I have a friend that has a legal excemption to smoke pot for the very reason to stop her from having seizures, this after years of failed pharmaceutical testing and torture on her and the last option of surgery on her brain to try to curb her seizures.Since starting to smoke pot she has fewer seizures then ever in her entire life
In Janes case I say "if it aint broke, don,t fix it" She had a brain injury twenty years back, two bleeds since but NO seizures and a daily smoker to relieve her pain and spasistity
hmmm are they SURE it "causes seizures"??

anyway thanks all from the two of us for the prayers, thoughts and blundervibes

Sparky, I hope Jane continues to make improvement.

I'm sorry it took so long to get back here. It's been a hectic couple of days. Bob's home. It was probably a day earlier than would be absolutely optimal, in that he really doesn't have all his strength back and he's just learning to do the checking and shooting. But it was Rob's 25th birthday and the Super Bowl and the doctor agreed that it would be good for them to celebrate watching it so that's what we did. He's doing pretty well so far. Getting the hang of everything - two different kinds of insulin and checking sugar every few hours. It's going to take a little time for all that to be second nature, but he remains pretty cheerful about the whole thing.

Thank you so much from both of us for your thoughts, vibes and love. They help a lot.

Glad he's home now. Hope he gets better soon. I bet after his sugars get lower they will lower his insulin dosage. Sending out vibes...

Sparky, continued Blundervibes going to Jane (and to you--caretakers need to be taken care of, too!).

Same message, really, to Pat and Bob. BOTH of you take care of yourselves; Blundervibes for rapid improvement are going your way.

Hi and thanks again. Bob's doing fine. Feeling better every day and getting the hang of everything. Cheryl, you're probably right. A woman at work was telling me her husband went through almost exactly the same thing a while back and now he's down to just one injection a day. That would be fantastic.
