Good morning all... what a beautiful snow cover we have here! about eight inches of the white stuff. I love it! (but of course, I'm used to this stuff.

I'm sending warm snow-and-ice-melting blundervibes to all the folks in the Carolinas and Virginia - where this kind of weather wreaks havoc. Be safe everyone! Stay home if you can - far away from the fools on the road who think they are okay driving their 4WD SUVs!

I need a dose of Wyld's good attitude--mine right now is sure ... it's pretty, from inside the house. Wimped out and stayed home yesterday, then felt guilty so sent my hubby out to check out the roads. Roads were horrible, and he got stuck in the driveway twice so then I couldn't go to work (I was SOOOOO sad--hah!) The plow guy had to come twice, too--snowed so hard that within a couple of hours after plowing us out the first time, we had another 4-6 inches in the driveway. Got out of the driveway fine this morning--only to get stuck at the intersection. Couple of kids stopped and pushed me out--then 30-40 miles all the way in on the highway, so made it an hour+ commute. Lots of black ice. Yuck. Okay, okay, no, I do not want cheese with that whine. It could be worse--could have all this snow AND Sparkydon's cold weather. {{{Warm hugs}}} all around.

Judging by Wyld's and Pam's experiences this week, I'd say that Central PA fared quite well... maybe even got off easy.

We had ice, snow, freezing rain on Monday, schools were closed, including one of the colleges I attend.

On Tuesday, we began with freezing rain (Lance had to keep stopping to scrape his windshield on his way to work), but schools were open because there was already a planned "Act 80 Day" (early dismissal) and they didn't want the kids to miss 2 days in a row.

This morning we woke up to around 6" of fluffy, dry, snow... but the ice that was on the cars and sidewalks from Tuesday was just insulated. Cleaning the snow off the cars was easy, as was shoveling out from where the snowplow buried the cars. But scraping the ice was hard. Roads were all fine but the schools were closed today.

At least it's warmed up quite a bit, and no wind! Michael's snowboarding in my neighbor's backyard, Corey has the flu and I'm happy that I was able to drive today.

Today was SOOOO cold that my car lock froze. Michael had to get into the car from the passenger side and he still couldn't unlock the driver's door. So I started the car, cranked up the heat and went back into the house. Finally, after 10 minutes, the car had defrosted enough that he was able to unlock the door from the inside and with me pulling and him pushing, I finally got into the car and made it to class in time.

Then we had an "emergency" alarm half-way through class, so we all had to stand outside in the freezing wind while waiting for the all-clear. Not a scheduled fire-drill either <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/frown.gif" width=15 height=15>

New building, kerosene heaters, paint, in a chem lab! Not a smart combination. We had to wait outside for close to 20 minutes, freezing!

Hope your car's doing better & that you guys get to thaw out soon...

Bummer about your frozen car locks--and even worse having to stand outside in the cold! I stopped for gas last night--and the gas tank door was frozen shut. At least I could get the hood open to pour yet another gallon of windshield wiper stuff in.
