Winds kicked up progressively through yesterday, rain began. Didn't feel much like a hurricane tho.

This morning I was awakened to the sound of tree trucks, you know... that buzzing, loud stuff that shouldn't be done at 7 AM. A part of a tree came down near the school bus-stop.

My daughter called on her way to school (they had a 2-hour delay today) to tell me to drive up the road to see a neat sight, a tree totally uprooted, sidewalk and all, lying on a backyard... didn't hit any cars!).

Colleges and universities in the county are closed today... schools are open on a 2-our delay.

Could have been a whole lot worse. VERY windy today, drizzle... lots of messes all over town. No basements got flooded from what I've heard. Monday's storm, tho, was a whole lot worse!

The sound of chainsaws .

Wasn't that a mighty storm!

Got some bad damage in the eastern areas...

Played last night on the docks in the clothes I had on for 2 days
and hair from hell
tired body
no boats in the water
the hearty adventurous 30
on the docks
singing songs
enjoying the fine night...

All in all, life goes on, refreshed.
Others will rebuild.

We can't get TVLAND anymore due to them scrambling their signa; now & can't find a dedscrambler for our big satellite dish. Glad Arnie to go watch Dick Van Dyke...

Electricty is out so I am online at a local Radio Shack. Power out in most ares except for some area of Petersburg. Batteries are dead on the laptop so I dunno when I can get back on here next. Thank God for Radio Shack. My folks are okay & their hosue but tress went their their seperate detached garage for my dad's stuff & trees went thru their gazebo but at least them & their house are okay. No electricity but we have phones still. My folks phones are out. No damage at our house, only a few tree libs in the yard. We heard the strom winds go Whooo by the house & a large boom noise. When the electricty went out I saw an orange ball. Some folks are getting tv with satellite dish & lights thru generators. See ya later!

We didn't get nearly the rain they thought we'd get here in Ohio--although it's raining quite a bit even today. The week-end was beautiful. My daughter in MD lost power and had some wind damage--she was worried about something falling on her car, but everyone survived just fine. Haven't heard from the Virginia kid, but I'm thinking that "no news is good news" he's probably celebrating his first Hurricane watch!

I've been away for a long weekend so I couldn't get online to see if you were all Ok. I'm glad that you all got through it.
And seeing that you have, I'll have to appologies the Hurricane was my fault, I'm Sorry.
I'm the one Planning the Holiday over there so I'm the one to blame. I thought I was going to get an airport strike or something.

I'll try to leave the weather at home when I come.

Glad to see everyone is getting power back and finding all the loved ones OK.

We here on the Texas coast know a little about hurricanes and tropical storms. I remember the last hurricane that came thru here. I had quit smoking for about 3 months, but when that tree landed on the house I figured I was gonna die from the hurricane before cancer could catch me so I went strait for those Marlboros.

Kitty, we are glad to hear your keeping the music alive. A little music always helps in hard times. In fact I believe someone once said that's where the blues came from. hehe! ! !

In fact, I used that rap this past weekend....you just wait, mz sid's kid....as soon as I get my "Exhale" working better I'll tell you more...

There's some serious damage in these parts...Hatteras will never be the same. What was once an island is now a series of islands.
Ocracoke is being powered totally by generators right now. no gas is being sold because all the gas on the island is being used for the generators...

I am still cleaning up after the storm. But to be perfectly honest, my house was a mess BEFORE the storm...
