This is as good as it gets for a blundermom. A440 will be opening for Holy Water Undertoe in an evening of acoustic jamband stuff next Saturday night (8/16). Got a lot going on at home, but we have to go up for this, so if anyone is in the neighborhood next week, by all means, stop by the church!

Hey Mark, thanks for the plug! This is going to be an acoustic version, maybe even w/o drummer. Not sure yet. So it's a quieter, gentler a440, special for the church.

Sorry to miss this tonight!!!! Plans on Havelock bond. Or Havelock bound! Hopefully the later. As your aware, I'll be there in spirit. As usual.

ntm: this is rb's plug for bail money. Hopefully I won't need it. Altho I feel safer in numbers.

Whoa..rb and sparky are going to be at the same gig! How cool is that?

Last night was wonderful and we all want to thank Sherry a thousand times. Holy Water Undertoe, which includes members of the Reverand Tor Band, Max Creek and other great bands, and last night, Gordon Stone, were a treat for the ears and great people, every one of them. A440 pulled it out, too, and considering it was 3/5 of them and Rob's first real vocal outing (long story behind that one) it was a real success, performancewise. And Rob got invited to fiddle with the headliners on a couple of numbers, which was extremely cool. One thing that made the whole evening so much fun was that every single member of both bands were having such a good time. And of course, for a blundermom, having the son play the church...it doesn't get better than that.

Well it started out to be 'the' perfect day. After arriving at customs, and a check of passengers it was a NO GO! I'm glad I had my stepsons car, for had it been my own it would have been impounded. (protocal according to Mr. Customs man) They randomly check for people, and today we were the one's. The Customs agent said if it weren't a Sunday, and he wasn't in a good mood, he'd of waited for the $285.00 American and it would of been a done deal.

Guess I'll start a bridge fund, as it was embarrassing to say the least. NTM: I was steaming not being able to meet my friends in Havelock.

Better being pissed off, than pissed on. If it has to be. I blame no-one but myself, for my past misstakes.

I guess you could say "I fought the law & the law won! Rb

rb, that totally sucks! I'm so sorry you didn't make it. I was wondering what was up when I saw you'd posted already. The Canada/US border is getting to be a bit of a Berlin Wall for Blunderites - keeping the family apart.

That does totally suck. There's no other way to phrase it. However, I'm soooo glad we are being protected from the real dangers--the terrorists like rb and sparky. I hope they can protect me from me; that one may be harder.

So sorry about your misadventures on the border. It sucks that once again cash makes the difference between a go and a no-go.
(Considering the "bad guys" they are trying to stop would have access to all the cash they need.Talk about screwed-up priorities).
Things sure have changed from a few years back when my dad took my wife and I over the border just to say we'ld been in Canada. We couldn't have come up with $285 between the four of us.The times they are a-changin'

hey rb! I'm just curious, what exactly did you get stopped for? Customs inspection? And they wanted 285 in tariffs? Or was this something else?
Last time we went to canada, they simply did the "are you all citizens of the US" quickie question... which we all can answer honestly, but some of us might need to show paperwork that supports that claim...
sorry you got hassled... Blame Canada!

Arnie I'd love to blame Canada. Trust me! But it all stems from previous DWI convictions. (latest being 13 yrs. ago. Guess why I thought I could sneak on thru)

But, as the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink!

I thought after 13 yrs. things would loosen up a bit. They're easier on the Pot issues, and I believe the drinking age is 19 (Ontario) 18 (Quebec)

I even offered them a promisary note, stating I wouldn't get behind the wheel. I got a real mean, "Don't push it". I just wish I'd of had the extra $285.00. It would of been a done deal, and over with. As it now stands, I have tons of paper work, offering me a NON-REFUNDABLE bridge pass. (meaning they can turn down my request) BASTARDS!!!

My advice to anyone is 'Don't drink & drive'. Luckily I never hurt anyone, but it does come back to haunt me, every once & awhile!

Okay... I must still be in a blackout, cause I'm still quizzled! First of all, is that $285 in US or CN funds? and secondly, is that a bribe for Mr. Customs Man, or some surety bond that would allow a bad bad person with a very old DWI conviction the right to drive on the pristine roads of Canada? And just HOW did they find out about this ancient DWI? huh??

huh?

Sorry you didn't make it to the show. Those customs men don't sound very friendly...

RB... I am soooo sorry that you had that trouble. When I crossed, they asked just a couple of questions... am I a US citizen, am I carrying alcohol or tobacco? am I carrying firearms or explosives? and that was it...
I feel bad that it was me talking you into the attempt that brought this about. But I was really happy that we had Friday afternoon to catch up with one another... Give Susan a hug for me.

Pat... I am soooo glad that A440's show went well... wish I could have been in two places at the same time!
