Hi Everyone...

I wanted everyone who was so kind to my Mrs. T., and update. (For those who don't know she is my surrogate/sort of Mom). She was exceedingly generous with the Guthrie Center Garage Sale in the spring. (Many of us purchased her donations.)

Since her admission to the first facility, Mrs. T. flourished. No one expected her to do as well for as long. (No doubt your cards and good wishes helped - as well as her continued determination and great attitude!)

This November was rough for her tho, and she was in the hospital for quite a while. When she was ready to go back to her care center, the bed was no longer available. So she is in a new place - just before the holidays. Not a great deal. With my cold(s) this fall, I haven't been able to get there as much as I would have liked. Cards and letters are her only way to reach out. She is so sick, but with such a sharp mind. There aren't too many people in these facilities for her to talk to.

I was hoping if you are writing out Christmas Cards anyway, or just cause you felt like it - if you could send her a card. I know she would really appreciate it. She really gets a kick out of getting mail from all over the country.

Here is her new address:

Mrs. Lucille Tamburro
Ridgewood Center
330 Franklin Turnpike #32B
Ridgewood, NJ 07450

Thanks everyone...it's a really nice thing.
Happy Holidays!
Regina C.

Not sure that we've ever spoken, Regina, and I'm quite sure I don't know Mrs. T -- but sick, shut-in, dependant on letters for most contact with humanoid life-forms -- this I know all too well.
It will be my pleasure to send her a card, and who knows but that a new pen-friendship won't result in the process. It's always a good thing to find people I can write to.
Your timing helps. This is looking like one of those years when sending out cards is in the realm of the feasible. Ah, serendipity!

ReginaC, we've never "spoken" before, but I already know that you are a kind and loving person. I've seen too many elders whose birth children are not so attentive as you. I'm addressing cards today; hers will surely be one.

Finally bought cards and will definately and her to my list. Hopefully it will somewhat pay for the kindness you sent me when my mom died. I'm very sorry I never replied to you. Your personal response meant so much to me but I had a very hard time with dealing with it all...

Regina, I'm kinda new, so don't know your history with Mrs. T. I will be glad to send a card. Can she have "goodies?" We're putting together tins of cookies in the next week or two for just this kind of thing. If this is allowed, I'd be happy to send her one.

(Muffy, did you get my email? I have a tin for you, too.)

Im going to try to answer everyone personally, but for now...

Pamramadama - You may be new here but you definately have the spirit. Her ailments are mostly contained to her heart, so no sugar restrictions. You are incredibly generous. Thank you so much.

Diane - Some day we'll talk about our Mom's in person. I totally understand. Mine's been gone 15 years, and I still don't talk about it. Thanks for being kind to my "other" Mom.

Ceashel - Mrs. T. fortunately also has a wonderful - INCREDIBLY wonderful - birth daughter, who has been my best friend, and occasional spine and "sister" since we were 12. She - is literally why I am alive today. However, she is stretched so many ways - that unfairly make too many demands on her. She does so much for so many, that I try to help a little. Mrs. T. was my Mom when mine wasn't "available". She's a good lady.

Muffy - I'm looking forward to meeting you some day. Thanks for your thoughts and help.

All you other guys who I love so much... Thanks again for everything you do for me.

AND PS - RB - I bet you get just as many cards or more.

Love and thank you,
ReginaC

Pamram, I got your e-mail -- and answered it, too. Sounds like you didn't get it? I should try again? Let me know if you get this one, OK?

Regina, I'll be looking forward to meeting you, as well. The card to Mrs. T went out yesterday or the day before.
I know how much the cards my own mother got, when she was sick, helped to cheer her up.
In fact, these posts are serving to remind me how much all of you helped me when my mother was dying, and afterwards. I sure hope I remembered to thank you at the time, but in case I didn't, a truly humongous THANKS to you all. You were so wonderful to me -- and that was back when no one here knew me from Adam, too. I hope you all realize how much that meant to me, and means to me still.

Mrs. T. is doing very well now, after a rough 4 trips to the hosp. between Thanksgiving and Christmas....

But I thought you guys would get a kick out of this one...

Doing a little "reality check" to see if Mrs. T's mind was still sharp...a nurse asked her what she had for dinner. Crafty Mrs. T., who probably was very unimpressed with the food, didnt remember. So she said, "Meat, potatoes and vegetables". The nurse said..."but you have that every night"
...Mrs. T. told her..."then I'm correct, no matter how often you ask me!"

Im trying to work out bringing Barley Wilson, my baby Beagle into the care center to see her. (She's a dog person and had a beagle "Bixie" for years when we were kids. I'll let you know how that works out.

- REG

So glad to hear Mrs. T is doing better! Mom (who actually baked the X-mas cookies) was asking about her just the other day. I'm glad to have good news to report.

When you speak with her, please let her know we were thinking about her. (I bet that goes for everyone else, too).
