 Post subject: "Spring" Revival

I have been trying to get a decent rate for 2 nights in ANY motel in the area and ended up with a room for $108 per night. Not my idea of "budget" rooms.

Gee, Arlo, did you HAVE to choose a holiday weekend to schedule your Spring Revival? I'm having 2nd thoughts about coming up. If I'm going to have to spend THAT much money for a room, and that money isn't benefitting you or the church, well.... it just doesn't seem like such a great idea afterall.

Terrie

I did; they were either booked solid or they raised their rates for that weekend, can't remember. I've tried Motel 6, Travelodge, Comfort Inn... and every Internet booking agent listed at Google. I finally got a room for $216 for the weekend, traveling with an 8-year-old who will have to share a king-sized bed with mom and dad... not fun.

I'm considering trying motels on the CT side of the border.. and maybe even NY. But that weekend is just crazily expensive.

Hello Buffalo Gal,

If you don't mind staying in a cabin a little bit farther away from Housatonic, try KOA in Saugerties NY, I think they might start at $40, but not sure. I'm guessing it's about 40 miles. Up the Taconic Parkway and over route 23 to Great Barrington, look at the map if you have one. Make sure you check with the establishment on what they supply in the cabin, you may have to bring your own sheets, blankets, sleeping bags, etc. Also, there might be local campsites with cabins closer to the Church. Or for even less if you like to camp, try some of the State Forests with camping accomodations.

Hey... camping sounds good to me... Terrie, you want to camp that weekend, I'd be in for it! There are a couple of Mass state campgrounds in the area - Beartown campground is not far from the church, and neither is October Mountain (which I think has more amenities) I have to look into it further, but it would save me from driving home to just outside Albany each night. I'm planning on the Saturday and Sunday shows... (but I could be convinced to do all three shows.)

If it's not too late to cancel you room and change to a camp have a look at this site:- www.thesevenstones.com

Its in Great Barrington, I'm not too sure where abouts as I didn't check its map when I realized that it was a camp and not a BB. It looked afordable if a few people were sharing a cabin. I found it Via this site:- www.berkshireweb.com

If you go to the birkshire site and click on lodging there is a long list of Buget, middle rate, and expensive BB and Motels in Great Barrington, Stockbridge, Lee, Housatonic. It was the site I used to find somewhere to stay in Oct, but all the Buget ones were all booked up or too far away, so I had to go with a Middle rate BB, but I've got enough time to save for it.
Hope its of use,
Yours
Me

Thanks to all for your wonderful suggestions. However, I'd already thought of camping, real camping with tents... but we're already doing that in August in Cape May, NJ (hopefully the week Arlo will be in Ocean City).

Even the cabins and campgrounds have jacked up their prices for the holiday weekend.

I'm still waiting to hear what one online travel site (travelnow.com) has to say. I booked a room thru them for the weekend at Travelodge in Pittsfield for $57.00 per night. After waiting for almost 24 hours, my confirmation finally arrived. However, just to be sure, I called the motel and was told "No, it's $160 for the 4th and $70 for the 5th"... so I emailed travelnow.com asking them to look into it for me.

Maybe it'll work out, maybe not. There's always Ocean City and, of course, his annual Thanksgiving shows in PA.
