I just noticed a bel hanging from the birthday list on the homepage and well, it is Bob the 23rd today. And, well, I could go for some more chonklit cake! Well, Bel?
Happy Birthday!

Well, thank you all! Sorry about the delay, but I was out of town for my Bob-day and just got home this evening. Thanks for the good wishes and I only wish I could supply chonklit cake all around!

This birthday was a different sort for me this year. My mom passed away on Thanksgiving Day, October 14th, so I spent this birthday remembering and celebrating the years we shared. (Never mind how many! OK, a few more than half a century.) She was 83 and had an orphan disease called Myleodysplastic Syndrome, similar to leukemia. It has truly been the summer from hell, but it ended swiftly and peacefully for her. For that, and for all the years of her smiles and her wisdom and her sweet love, I am thankful.

Until we lose people we love, like Mom and like Todd, we forget how fragile our lives are, how precious love is, and how blessed we are. I'm glad we're friends. I don't tell you often enough how much richer my life is because of the friends I've met here. So thank you, my friends!

In Mary's memory, go hug somebody hard and tell them you love them, OK? Cause she'd really like that! <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/angel.gif" width=25 height=20>

Bel,
You are in my heart. It is tough, I do know. But lean on your friends and they will lean on you and we'll all still stand. I wish you a healing 50-something year ahead. Going now to hug a couple of people with a "Mary" hug.

bel, sad to hear about your mom...
but glad you had her around as long as you did. It's an awkward time in our lives when we see our children and our parents all deserting us... leaves gaping holes in our lives that we try to fill with friends and extended family...
makes the loss of someone like todd even harder to bear at times.
that's why birthdays are so important! We always need another good reason for another piece of chonklit cake, and a big smile on our faces!!!
