Calling on your blundervibes again ... my Uncle Dick just found out last week that he has cancer that has spread to his liver. Last night he was admitted to the hospital with diverticulitis in a tremendous amount of pain. Found out today that his cancer is very advanced--nothing can be done. If he, by chance, survives this hospital visit, he has at most 2 months to live. They plan on giving Uncle Dick the news tomorrow.

The drs said all they can do is try to make him comfortable. At this point, he's on an IV antibiotic (due to a "raging" infection) and on morphine push.

He and Aunt Helen have 3 boys (I say boys--all adults now) and 5 grandkids. They've had a wonderful marriage and are still very much in love.

Please send your blundervibes to help them all get through this--and mostly to help Uncle Dick not be in pain.

Thanks again to you all. The latest is word is they don't think he'll make it through the night. Considering the pain he's in, it's probably a good thing. Right now he's only awake a few minutes at a time--they pretty much have to give him so much pain killer (morphine, I think), that he looks comatose. We're going over tomorrow with piles of food, etc., and hope that we'll have a chance to say goodbye--if he's still with us and we're allowed in the hospital room. (Right now it's immediate family only.)

I can't tell you how much it means to have a place to write this knowing it will be read by people who care, even though I haven't met most of you except through your posts. It's not that I don't have anyone to talk to in person--it's just too hard to actually SAY it.

Anyway, thank you.
