Thank you Ceashel, I'll keep that word in mind.. Generally I'm looking forward to having the Euro, too You don't have to change money before travelling to another country any more. And it will be interesting having all the different Euro coins from France ,Spain... they have a different picture on one of the sides but at first glance they look the same
It's funny , I didn't hear about that Deutschmark funeral celebration I think most people don't really care about loosing the Deutsche Mark ,it's nice to have new coins and bills <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/cool.gif" width=15 height=15>

Fan, how will it work, with the countries that opted out of the Euro? England, Sweden & Denmark, I think...they'lljust maintain their own currencies & figure out a Euro exchange rate?

Well, I know this'll make it easier for me to hang out in Europe. Of course, first I'd need a whole bunch of Euros to get there..

so that if you should happen to have some euros you can figure out how much they're worth in the currency of your choice.

they've had exchange rates for euro's for some time now... this was only the official transition to the solid currency... they've been trading euro's on the exchanges for a couple of years now...
i imagine it's gonna be nice to travel across most of europe, knowing how much money you have in your pocket is the same... altho' the prices might still be different!

Sorry just read your question Bumper,yes what Arnie said, they'll keep their currency and the members of the "Eurocountries" will
have to change the Euros into pounds (or into other currencies) if the want to travel to those countires... So long there haven't been any major problems but it can be very annoying because many shops don't accept the D-mark any more and if you want to change your money at the bank they charge you for it (and there are lots of people standing in line)
