I think I hate it when "Muffy" gets shortened.
It's OK, RB: you didn't know -- but there's only two variations on my name(s) that I really don't like being called, and that's one of 'em.
Now you do know.

Happy New Year!!!

We need it to be! The (mostly) worldwide resolution made earlier this fall needs to be even stronger in 2002.

Fan, I guess you're also saying goodbye to the deutschemark, and hello to the euro. I hope it goes smoothly. That kind of imposed change can be hard to take; I hope the benefits outweigh what you are losing.

Tonight Jay and I will raise our glasses in a toast to all of Blunderland and to the Guthrie family, both of which seem to be growing by leaps and bounds.
That is the best portent for the new year that I can imagine!

Yes Ceashel, this kind of growth is important, and good, I'll do likewise, and, lets all sing together, loudly, with arlo, during his peter Jennings clip, tonight.... to me, "This Land is Your Land", all verses, is the most beautiful, patriotic song,I know..
Happy New Year

Ummm, with one brain cell being shared, it's lucky if any one of us gets a chance to think once (at least that's MY excuse!).

What you all said. Especially the
Happy New Year! part.

Thanks for the Arlo reminder!

It's 2002!!!!
Hope you all had fun celebrating the new year and watching the Arlo show ...
Ceashel, yeah the Euro has now been (more or less )successfully introduced.. It 's strange loosing the old currency and having these new coins (I always have to think twice about the prices) but we'll get used to it (at least that`s what I hope) I'll draw money from the bank later just to see what the "paper" (don't know the English word) looks like
Have a nice day everyone!

Fan, the paper money is a bill, like "dollar bill." Selfishly, I'm glad of the change, because it will make travel in Europe a lot easier (if I ever get to go!). But I can understand the people who regret losing some of their country's "identity." Last night on the ABC Arlo Show when they couldn't show Arlo, they were showing other things. One was a "funeral" for the deutchemark; I think they were in Frankfurt.

Anyway, good riddance to 2001 and Happy New Year everyone!</FONTc>

Muffers is fine. Muffelina, Muffster, Muffet, Muffles, Muffin ... all those I've been called, and all those (and more) are fine. It's "Muff" that for some reason rubs me the wrong way. Can't explain it. I have no idea why. It's like people using my original "given" name -- that hardly anyone has ever called me because it doesn't really fit me -- I guess. Although come to think of it, I don't think I'd much go for that one being shortened to one syllable, either.

Of course, maybe I'm just too picky about some things. That's a possibility too.
