MoveOn existed almost entirely on the Internet during the election, but they're starting local, face-to-face groups in many areas now. Our local group has met once and will meet again in early December; they're planning monthly meetings, with connection & reporting of their decisions/actions to the national org. to keep the grassroots emphasis alive and well. It might be worth checking moveon.org periodically to keep in touch with this group. Surely if there's a local one in Dallas, there will be some in the blue states.

Edited to say: The point is, NOW is the time to start planning for and working on the 2006 and 2008 elections. It seems to me that many of us (I) jumped in too late, while the Rs were working on 2004 all along.

Thanks Wyldflower & Ceashel. I've emailed Moveon for groups in my area. The United for Peace and Justice site has some groups listed that are in nearby towns that I'll check out. Way cool! Onward through the fog!

Thank you, Wyldflower. The United for Peace and Justice site you suggested had a couple of area listings, one of which, Winsted Peace Action, I was able to contact. They seem somewhat organized to the point that they have regular meetings & vigils. The sad thing is that, in speaking with one of the members on the phone, I was informed that most of the people in the group are "older". In other words, not too many young folk in the group. What makes this sadder still is that it's located in a town that has a state college.

It is somewhat the same in my area... Albany, with thirteen colleges in the general area, and three right in town. There are younger people involved, though not in the numbers one would hope. Some of the younger folk here prefer the Ironweed Collective, a group of young anarchists. They tend to be active in protesting the war, using some of the more disobedient versions of civil disobedience.

I keep talking about activism with the young folks, and a few of them have awakened to the need.

Winsted, Captain? That's the town where I first fell in with this crowd...in person, that is. You weren't by any chance at a particularly rowdy and...hot...Arlo show at a bar in Winsted in the summer of '97, were you?

Anyway, after the holidays we're going to try and start a new branch of the Long Island Progressive Coalition in Central Suffolk. It's going to be an interesting challenge. There's one in Huntington, but the more affluent areas are where these things do better around here. Here in the middle, we're the apathy capital of the world, I think.

So I would have to agree with their choice since no other person did or fronted more bad, that not only impacted America and the world but generations to come will suffer this person's bad bad impact.

If they were going that way, then Man of the Year should have gone to Karl Rove. Bush would never have gotten in office to begin with without him.
