Man this is bad, this has it's repacusions over here too you know. As me and Alan have just been saying, it looks like there will be an early election over here now. The Tory's being a bigger joke than Labour arn't really going to be much opposition, but the Librals arn't all too bad, but to pull us out of this mess no one belives that they are capable. But there are a lot of fraction party's active at the moment and Bliar's advisors have said that the only way he can get back in this time is to act quick before any of them pull there act together. which means that it looks like a Feb, March election with Lab getting in with a reduced majority.

Which looking at who else could stand a chance is a good thing I suppose. The fraction group who seem to be picking up the most support fastest is a party named:- UKIP this is because there main point is to get us out of Euroupe which is what most of us want; but basicaly the are just the National Front with a face lift. If Kerry had got in then it would have set a few minds thinking that it was possable to change things over here of the better.

But thay are very worried that when Shrub impelments some of his more extreme polices they are worried that it might tarnish Bliar's image because they are so close, so it look like an early election before bush can do too much damage.

It really really is a very sad day for us and our economys and enviroment. After our group hug, I'm going to go and plant as many trees and plants as I can and do an extra little bit for the enviroment. God knows it's going to need it.

For those of you distraught over the election outcome, there's good news.

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.

Thanks you guys and gals. You made me feel better today. You know, I actually cried watching John Kerry's concession. Not because he lost, but because of what was lost as a country.

I didn't have to "hold my nose" this time. Unlike Gore who Inever liked and still don't, I really grew to LIKE John Kerry. I think he is a very good man at heart, and you is Mass are lucky to know him.

He would have been a great leader. How sad.

I watched John Kerry's speech live on our 6am news before going to work this morning and cried all the way to work which takes 20 mins. How can people say they voted for Bush because of moral values when he has been so immoral? and not vote for a moral man like John Kerry? My heart broke for him and I believe him when he said he would like to reach out and hug each of his supporters. At least W. can't run again and there are some strong Democrats - Obama, Edwards, Rodham Clinton, who will be ready to run in 4 years.
And remember in my post below about rights won being eroded? I heard talk (on the radio)about Reversal of Roe v. Wade and today in Brisbane a bunch of right to lifers picketed the office of a medical specialist who performs abortions here in Brisbane. That hasn't happened for a long time here and now the Evangelical Senator who just got his seat at our election is stirring it all up again suggesting women get mandatory counciling and EVEN made to have scans so they can be made to see their fetus!!
Now I would never have an abortion but defend anyones right to choose. Thank goodness women with power in little Johnnies govt are vowing that they will not let this all happen, but I think this is just the start of the erosion.
Also I heard a comment on the radio that the south and the mid-west voted for W. cos they are stuck in a time warp and see W. as a "good ol' boy" like themselves. Does anyone know if women in those states still vote for whoever their Daddy or Husband votes for?? And why did married women mostly vote for W.and how do they know this???? Hey!! Blundermoment! I always listen to Lehrer while I'm on here and they just answered my question by saying that it seems that in many marriages the males still dominate and so their wives just follow them politically. I just don't understand those women??????? Well we've got 4 years to talk to people and try to open their minds to search for truth and try to stop being controlled by fear, fire and brimstone!

You go girl! I remember Arlo saying in a RBR that we needed some good republicans. I feel sure you are one and I feel sure you are not the only one. We must remember there are good and bad people in every crowd. Kudos for speaking your voice.

So......twice in a row, the dems have had smart guys that talked smart lose the election, and the GOP has had the same dumb guy that talks dumb win. I think we need to either get our own dumb guy next time, or at least get a smart guy that knows how to talk dumb.......then we win! As sarcastic as this may sound, I think it's accurate!

Larry, you're absolutely right. This country is about as anti-intellectual as you can get. We need to find another Bill Clinton, who was smart enough to know how to talk to Joe Average in W. Armpit, IA.

When so many Bush voters cite "moral values" as a deciding factor, and then vote for Bush, who seems rather immoral on so many levels....it's tough, ain't it.

I wrote a letter to the editor of the NYTimes, but they haven't used it... and I thought it was good, so here's what I wrote:

<FONT COLOR="blue">At the risk of being labeled an east-coast liberal elitist, quoting obscure literary references, I have to say that one phrase George W. Bush used in his acceptance speech filled me with a sense of dread. The phrase had a ‘ring’ of familiarity: “We have one country, one Constitution and one future that binds us.”

The literary reference? “One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them." (J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings)</FONTc>

Ok then, we have about 2 or 3 years to find a dumb candidate. We better get started NOW! I mean we have a lot more looking to do to find a dumb candidate than the republicans do. Ya know what I'm sayin'?
